ABOUT OUR COMPANYPhiladelphia was awarded the 16th Major League Soccer franchise in February, 2008 and the team was officially announced as the Philadelphia Union in May, 2009.  Owned and operated by Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC (“KSE”), the group launched the Philadelphia Union's inaugural season in 2010 and opened what is now Subaru Park in June, 2010.  Subaru Park is an 18,500 seat, world-class soccer specific stadium that sits beautifully along the Delaware River at the base of the Commodore Barry Bridge and is only 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia.  The club has reached the finals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2018, and has appeared in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2011, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, securing their first showing in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021.  In 2020, the Union were awarded the club’s first Supporters’ Shield after finishing with the best regular season record in MLS.  The club hosted the Eastern Conference Final in 2021 and were named the Eastern Conference Champions in 2022.  The 2022 season finished at the MLS Cup against LAFC, in one of the most intense matches in League history!  The Philadelphia Union have once again clinched a berth in the 2023 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. Philadelphia Union’s culture and brand positioning of Young, Fearless, Challengers differentiates us from others and focuses our vision to be unafraid and defy the ordinary.  KSE is relentlessly pursuing excellence both on and off the field and will lead the way, set the standards and share the glory.  Our connection to Philadelphia is symbolized in the Club’s crest as the snake, colors, shield, slogan and thirteen stars all represent Philadelphia as the original capital city and its call to action during the American Revolution. ABOUT THIS ROLE It’s never just a job at Philadelphia Union.  It’s a way of life. We live and breathe soccer and growing our fan base in the community. We believe each role is as unique as the person who does it. The Philadelphia Union is seeking full-time coaches to join the Union Youth department. The Union Youth Coach will be responsible to coach in the community at the grassroots and developmental level from ages 5 to 18 years old. The coach must also deliver the Union Youth curriculum in various training programs such as our Affiliate training, Clinics, Camps, and prestigious Player Pathway Program (PPP) across the tri-state area—Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. This position will report directly to the Director of Coaching and Affiliate Director. All employees must adhere within the guidelines and policies of the Philadelphia Union and the MLS. RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in planning and organizing Union Youth training sessions.Develop training curriculums for weekly training sessions for all our various programs.Implement Union Youth coaching philosophy.Provide training assessment and feedback for affiliate directors and head coaches.Provide a fun and developing training environment.Create an inclusive atmosphere for all athletes to feel welcome.Set specific goals and desired outcome in each session.Provide a player-centric approach.Ensure safety and well-being of youth athletes.Identify and recommend, potential PPP players.Attend monthly coaches’ meetings and field/classroom sessions.Maintain a hybrid schedule of both office and on field duties.Organize and assist in the running of camps/clinics/tryouts throughout the year.Ongoing assessment and mentoring of summer junior coaching staff.Set up and take down Union Youth branding and equipment.Enjoy grassroots coaching and developing fundamentals of the game.Report incidents to a supervisor in a timely manner as directed through the Union protocols.Other duties as assigned. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTESPassion to learn.Desire to explore and develop a career path in coaching soccer.Remarkable leadership and motivational skills.Ability to coordinate and lead multiple tasks and projects.Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skillsHave excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to multitask and work effectively with exceptional time management skills.Detail-oriented and organized.Self-motivated and self-starter mindset.Positive attitude and strong work ethic.Professional appearance and attitude, as well as ability to work with others.  QUALIFICATIONSValid US driver license. Personal transportation (must be able to transport equipment).Must have a minimum of a USSF ‘C’ (or equivalent).Have 3 years minimum experience coaching youth, collegiate and/or professional soccer.Possess the drive to develop youth players and work as part of a team.Be a motivated individual who can work a varied schedule of nights, weekends, and holidays.Have knowledge of identifying and developing talent.Possess basic computer skills, example Excel, word, power point, keynote.Can plan weekly training sessions under the Union curriculum.Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and have a strong sense of accountability.Possess a positive, outgoing, engaging, and professional personality.Strong understanding and passion for the sport of soccer.Experience working with youth players in a structured environment.Occasional bending, lifting, and carrying of objects up to 30 pounds.Ability to walk and stand for short periods of time.Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if/when necessary.Must possess U.S. work authorization not requiring sponsorship by the employer. We  proudly offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, vision, Rx and dental coverage, an employer-matched 401(k) plan, Life Insurance, Disability, merchandise discount, 24/7 Fitness Center, on-site café, complimentary Philadelphia Union tickets, and much more!   Coaches are required to maintain valid criminal background clearances in the state of PA:PA Child Abuse History Clearance PA State Police Criminal Record CheckFBI Criminal Background Check (via fingerprinting)Annual Safe Sport Certification We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
