Saints Foundation is an independent charity aligned to Southampton Football Club. Harnessing the passion of the Club and its fans we aim to inspire, support and deliver positive change and equality of opportunity for young people and adults at risk across Southampton and surrounding areas.
What is the role?
We have a very exciting opportunity for a Youth Engagement Officer to come on board and join the Saints Foundation. In this role you will be working as part of the Saints Foundation Premier League Kicks team to deliver positive activities including football sessions, workshops and mentoring projects across the city.
We aim to use the power of the Southampton FC brand to work with 8–18-year old’s who are at risk of anti-social behaviour, youth violence and/or from high-need areas.
We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion to support young people to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing and in doing so, working together to build a stronger, safer and more inclusive Southampton.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be able to deliver exciting and engaging sessions, including 1 to 1 and group mentoring, and have the ability to build strong rapport with hard to engage young people within their own communities.
We are looking for an organised individual who can keep track of each session and report back to the project lead when needed. Ideally this person needs to have previous experience working with a variety of age groups particularly young children. We are looking for an individual with a positive attitude and a confident personality with the ability to overcome challenges and be a positive role model. Finally this role requires a creative individual, in order to deliver engaging sessions and be confident in sourcing and suggesting new leads and ideas to the project lead.
Person Specification

Experience of successfully delivering or providing targeted interventions to young people in community settings is preferred.

Qualified or working towards a minimum UEFA C License (previously known as FA Level 2) or another sport and/or Level 2 Youth Work qualification. Alternatively, a strong interest and understanding of football as a whole – we can then support you with getting started on this qualification.

Communication and organization skills are essential in order to support the project lead with managing sessions.  

Experience in working with young people and the ability to engage with them, inspire and hold a true understanding of the challenges young people in the community are facing.
