Our Organisation

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.
The FA oversees England international teams acrossmen's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FAWomen's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park,all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.

The Role

Oversee the management, development and operations of the women's professional game leagues and competitions – The Barclays FA Women's Super League (FA WSL), FA WSL Academy League, FA Women's Championship).

The role can be based in either Wembley Stadium or our National Football Centre, St. George's Park.



Key Accountabilities


Oversee the management, development and operations of the women's professional game leagues and competitions – The Barclays FA Women's Super League (FA WSL), FA WSL Academy League, FA Women's Championship).
Lead, manage and coach the team effectively, ensuring all staff have regular personal development reviews, clear objectives and individual personal development plans
Develop an annual business plan and budget for women's professional game operations, ensuring prioritisation and allocation of major tasks and that all risks are identified and any mitigating actions put in place. Produce monthly updates on progress.
Lead the cross-division executive working group to deliver against our strategic priorities aligned to building the best women's professional sports leagues and competitions in the world.
Effectively perform duties and consistently execute powers of the Executive Operations Committee regarding rule breaches, fixture rescheduling and other league business.
Create and manage a co-ordinated annual fixture calendar, underpinned by clear principles, for the women's professional game incl. England (The FA WSL FAWC, The League Cup, FA Women's Cup and UEFA Women's Champions League) in conjunction with Broadcasters, Technical Division FIFA and UEFA. Gain consensus from member clubs on the calendar and approval from the BFA WSL / FA WC Board.
Review and develop the technology roadmap for women's leagues; being mindful of any developments in the male professional game and aligning where possible
Effectively manage the relationship with PGMOL to support the delivery of officiating in the women's professional game
Lead the strategic development of women's professional game policy working with the WGP Policy Manager and key internal and external stakeholders. Gain approvals for change from the BFA WSL / FA WC Board as required e.g. home grown rules, Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) criteria
Champion equality, diversity and inclusion work across the women's professional game working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Build effective relationships with key stakeholders including member clubs, captains' forum, FIFA, UEFA, ECA, PFA, LMA, Football Supporters Association on any issues requiring stakeholder engagement.
Report to the new FA WSL/FA WC Board on the management and development of the leagues and competitions.



Executeadditional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.




What we are looking for


Essential

Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of sports competition management and development
Knowledge and Interest in football and a passion for the development of the women's game
Extensive experience of managing and development sports competitions
Extensive experience of managing operations effectively and efficiently
Experience of managing a team and coaching individuals to improve performance
Track record in creating and executing successful projects, business plans and demonstrating impact/results
Experience of developing policy in consultation with stakeholders.
Budget management experience
High level influencing skills and stakeholder management skills
High level collaborator with the ability to influence and to build consensus amongst a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
Experience of driving and implementing a culture of continuous improvement
Excellent communication skills
Excellent reporting writing skills
Ability to create presentations and present to a wide range of key stakeholders


Desirable

Experience of working in or with professional football / professional football clubs
Knowledge and understanding of Women's Professional Football
Experience of successful change management
Knowledge and understanding of The FA and football
Understanding of all aspects of football league administration (rules, regulations, technology systems)
Experience of working with and building relationships with the major stakeholders in football

Please be aware that unless you are on ahomebased contract, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.
We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
