Our Organisation

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.
The FA oversees England international teams acrossmen's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FAWomen's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park,all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.

The Role

The role works as part of a team to deliver our ambitious women's football strategy ‘Inspiring Positive Change' of which the professional game strategy is an integral part of. As the Lead of Women's League Development, the post holder will drive our ambition to support women's professional clubs in achieving a sustainable league within a high-performance culture that can deliver domestic and international success. The role will work closely with the technical department to create close collaboration between clubs and country allowing our best English players to excel and achieve their full potential for club and country.
The role can be based in either Wembley Stadium or our National Football Centre, St. George's Park.



Key Accountabilities


Support clubs in the development of strategies to drive on pitch excellence and commercial growth.
Set and raise standards in club development across the FA WSL and WC through the development of a club licence covering all aspects of on and off pitch performance and meeting UEFA club licensing standards
Provide and coordinate a range of club services that are tailored to meet the needs of the individual clubs
Build and maintain effective relationships across the professional game and the technical department of the FA
Work with the technical department to support the clubs to build an inclusive and accessible high-quality performance pathway to develop the senior players of the future
Deliver a dual career system that enables players to succeed in both academic study and football
Collaboratewith the technical department to implement a system of effective player development, audit and measures
Ensure there are world class support services for all professional clubs including sports science, sports medicine and training facilities serving the needs of the senior team and the player pathway
Establish a workforce strategy that supports the recruitment and development of expertise staff across all disciplines
Work with the clubs and the FA to develop commercial and marketing expertise to attract more spectators, work effectively with broadcast partners and continue to raise the profile of the women's game
Provide targeted support for clubs in the Women's Championship with the potential to be promoted to ensure they can meet the demands of the WSL licence
Work with the Women's Championship clubs to develop and implement a plan of support to meet their specific development needs



Executeadditional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

What we are looking for


Experience

Knowledge of the sports sector
Experience of working in or within professional sport
Extensive knowledge of club development
Proven track record in developing sports / club businesses
Experience of leading strategy development and delivery
Experience of engaging and collaborating with multiple and complex stakeholders
Proven track record of leading, managing and developing people
Proven track record of delivering results and raising performance
An in-depth of understanding of high performing environments
Knowledge of sport equality and barriers facing under-represented groups
An understanding of the multi-disciplinary functions required to develop world leading development environments
Proven track record of creating high performing culture and environments


Skills Capability

Excellent presentation and influencing skills
Outstanding stakeholder management skills
Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads.
Able to manage a high-pressure workload and those of colleagues and to work and thrive in the High- Performance environment.

Please be aware that unless you are on ahomebased contract, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.
We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
