ROLE DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Women’s Team Sports Scientist to join the club. Reporting to the Head of Performance and working within a multi-disciplinary team, the role is expected to create and contribute to a high-performance environment to develop top class Women’s players for Celtic FC.
Key accountabilities will include:
The development and delivery of a Sports Science and Fitness support program to Celtic Women’s Team

The delivery of individual and group fitness services to Women’s Team players
Working with Women’s Team football coaches to implement an integrated approach to practices that ensure that time spent training maximises performance as efficiently and effectively as possible
Working with sport science, medical  and coaching staff to reduce the risk of injury through developing, implementing and evaluating fitness programmes within an integrated approach
Maintaining a comprehensive database of work conducted with players and coaches and analysing the database from a performance and load perspective - to include monitoring of heart rate and GPS, training loads and intensities, hydration status, session content, session attendance and player availability
Performing fitness testing and screening at regular times throughout the season, monitoring and assessing activities to construct profiles and log adaptation to training stimulus.
Establishing individual targets for training and matches based on the demands of the game
Working effectively with other support staff and services, including physiotherapy/medical services, to provide an integrated approach to performance enhancement, rehabilitation and injury prevention
Ensuring that the delivery of the sport science services effectively meets its commitments to the players and coaches
Working with our nutritionist to implement nutritional strategies to promote performance nutrition
Undertaking any other reasonable duties for the coaches, Medical/Physiotherapy Department or other club staff members as may be requested
Ensure all communications with colleagues is professional, appropriate and considerate of individual needs and circumstances
Actively build and maintain positive working relationships with Colleagues across the Club, ensuring a collaborative approach is adopted at all times
Treat all colleagues with dignity and respect by ensuring that your behaviour and approach during the course of all workplace activity is inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities and welcomes diverse contributions

Skills and Experience required

Extensive experience in the development of high performance professional athletes (both field and gym based)
Experience of working to deadlines in a demanding, fast moving, high profile environment.
Ability to work with high level of accuracy an attention to detail
Works calmly under pressure
Driven and self-motivated, with demonstrable continued personal development
Previous experience of Project Brave / EPPP
MSc in Sports Science (or equivalent)
Accreditation with UKSCA or NSCA
An organised and energetic personality with a passion for talent development and football
Ability to work with and alongside different members of staff in various departments
Excellent communication skills to engage/motivate players to develop athleticism and lifestyle into adulthood
Excellent practical delivery skills, with a passion to deliver on and off the pitch
Must pass a drivers medical on an annual basis
A current clean driver’s license is essential for this role


Additional Requirement 

Follow club policies and procedures to ensure safeguarding of all players within the teams structure
Compliance with club policies and health and safety procedures
Undertake other such duties as may be reasonably expected
Maintain a professional conduct at all times and act as an example to players they will work with
