The Women’s National Team Head Coach is a key position within the FAW, who will have significant responsibility in shaping the future of our women’s national team and supporting the association.
Our success in Welsh football is built on a strong culture, identity and environment and while a head coach must possess the technical requisite skills and competences, we place a strong focus and alignment on our values of family, respect and excellence and connecting with the team, the fans and raising the profile of women’s football will be equally integral in this position.
The FAW has recently launched a high performance strategy 2022-2026, part of this strategy is to ensure we can consistently qualify our women’s senior team to major tournaments. We have made significant progress by reaching World Cup play-off final and competing in Nations League A in 2023 and evolving our playing style in line with the ‘Welsh Way’.
Combined with this progress at senior level we have reconfigured our player pathway in Wales, by investing significantly into a girls academy system (U12-U17) enabling talented players to develop through a full time training model managed by the FAW and holistic support services to ensure a seamless transition through our youth national teams U15-U19’s and into our senior teams.
