Role description

The Purpose: Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their lives.This role is based within the Post 16 department with the aim of progressing young people closer to employment through the delivery of bespoke education and training programmes, and providing information, positive experiences, and opportunities to young people. This role with contribute to these aims by:

Managing the MU Foundation work experience and volunteering programmes
Creating the MU Foundation Careers Hub
Delivering and supporting wider employability courses, programmes and events

The Role:This role will aim to progress young people closer to employment by providing information, positive experiences and opportunities to young people working across the Post 16 department.Key responsibilities:

Coordinate the volunteer and work experience programmes at the Foundation to be the best in the country.
Increase the number, quality, and diversity of opportunities available to volunteer and undertake work experience through the Foundation.


Creation of the MU Foundation Careers Hub with internal and external stakeholders.
Delivering and supporting wider accredited and non-accredited employability programmes and events at the Foundation (e.g., United Futures, First Jobs, Next Move Into, College and University programmes)
Creating an infrastructure (e.g., programmes and materials, a network of individuals and organisations, ME framework) to support the Careers Hub, volunteering, and work experience programmes.

The Person:

People Skills (Self-assured, build rapport, empathise with others, emotionally intelligent, approachable.
Understanding of Safeguarding best practice.
Knowledge of implementing policies and procedures especially health and safety and risk assessments.

Role Specific:

Careers and pathways within the sport industry.
Careers and pathways requirements in secondary, further, and higher education, (e.g., National Curriculum and Ofsted Framework)
Work experience and volunteering programmes
Motivation and understanding young people from deprived areas
Digital technology and Learner Management Systems

Experience:

Minimum of three years practical experience of working with young people.
Inspiring and developing participants and staff.
Scoping, delivering, and evaluating a range of programmes.
Leading and managing projects.
Raising the profile of a programme and becoming a thought leader/influencer.

Skills:

Ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
Organisational and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
Think strategically in the context of, and alignment with, wider existing objectives and partnerships.
Financial Management (Planning, organising, directing, and controlling financial activities).
Ability to capture the success and report on the impact of your work.
Technology aware and digitally proficient

Qualifications:

A full UK driving licence with access to own car for business use.
Educated to degree, HND level or A level equivalent (Desirable).
Recognised coaching qualification.(Desirable)
