We’re making memories and engaging our community through this beautiful game. We are seeking a Vice President of Soccer Operations/General Manager to drive the sporting vision of the club on behalf of ownership. The position will provide day-to-day oversight of all areas touching the sporting arm of the organization, including coaching staff and first team, scouting and recruitment, player acquisition, player development, player care, medical and performance, sports science, data analytics and soccer operations. Priorities for this position include implementing a collaborative and aligned working environment for players and staff, driving process-oriented decision making and building the management foundation for all San Diego Wave FC sporting operations.Additionally, the Vice President of Soccer Operations/General Manager will collaborate with the business team to help build the San Diego Wave into a best-in-class organization. This is a full-time role in San Diego, California. Depending upon education, skill set, and experience, the annual base salary range is $250,000 - $350,000.  ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead and develop all San Diego Wave FC soccer operations areas including direct oversight of scouting and recruitment, player acquisition, medical and performance, analytics, player care, and soccer operations.Design and deliver a clear, transparent, and collaborative culture and soccer operations model for the franchise resulting in a high-performance environment.Work closely with the executive team to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the club’s vision and success on and off the pitch. Set and communicate a clear strategy inclusive of sporting objectives and provide consistent feedback / reporting to Team President and club stakeholders.Build and communicate strategies, core operating processes and procedures to enhance player care. Ensure that safety standards and best practices are always maintained.Recruit, lead, manage and develop a talented staff across the key soccer operations areas.Build and lead player recruitment, contract negotiations and salary cap management strategies in collaboration with Team President and Head Coach.Build a strong ‘partnership’ focused working relationship with the Head Coach and assistant coaches.Collaborate with San Diego Wave FC Head Coach to create and communicate a clear team identity and style of play for the club.Oversee the development of talent pathway strategies for the club moving forward.Express curiosity around next and best practices around technical and sporting operations functions to identify areas to pursue competitive advantage and drive innovation from within the club.Ensure San Diego Wave staff adheres to all NWSL rules, regulations, and policies.Oversee and lead the fiscal resource allocation across the sporting operations arm of the business.Actively support where possible the wider community, commercial and revenue generating projects undertaken by the Club by collaborating with the Team President on all sales, marketing, communications, community, finance, facilities, people, information technology.Serve as an ambassador on behalf of the Club in the soccer community.Adapt quickly as business needs evolve. QUALIFIED?Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Proven experience in sports management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a professional soccer club or sports organization.In-depth knowledge of the soccer industry, including player recruitment strategies, league regulations, and financial management.Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of players and staff.Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement long-term plans for the club’s success.Analytical mindset, with the ability to utilize data and performance metrics to drive decision-making.Exceptional at building relationships both internally and externally.Professional, positive, and proactive.Passion for the success of Women’s Professional Soccer.Available to work game day and other events often outside of traditional business hours; check out our latest schedule here:  APPLY TODAYIf you meet the above qualifications and are ready to take on the challenge of leading our professional soccer club to success, we want to hear from you.
