Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Events is responsible for overseeing all aspects of non-Major League Soccer events, including both public and private, at Sporting Kansas City owned locations. Oversight of these programs include: booking, budgets, scheduling, management of event staff, contracts, promotion, marketing, event ticket sales, reporting, and staff & production coordination. The Vice President of Events is also responsible for the planning and execution of yearly marquee Sporting Kansas City events, such as Pitch Black, The victory Gala, and annual Jersey Launch Party. Sporting Kansas City is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage all talented individuals looking for a challenge to apply.  Essential FunctionsIdentify and book all stadium-wide, non-Major League Soccer events at Children’s Mercy Park, Compass Minerals National Performance Center, and any additional properties added under the Sporting Kansas City umbrella. Maintain key relationships with stadium wide booking partners and agencies. Create a strategy and budget around stadium-wide events RFP process.Coordinate all relevant event operations between outside licensees, internal departments, and city agencies to facilitate seamless event activations. Negotiate financial deal points and execute contractual agreements with licenses in conjunction with facility legal departments. Create, plan, and execute marquee Sporting Kansas City events such as season kick off and player’s awards dinner. Oversee the private events team, City Foods and Events, to enable them to reach private events revenue goal. Maximize available dates as dictated by MLS schedule and facility maintenance needs. Attend all Sporting Kansas City home games, as well as major non-soccer related events. Always represent Sporting Kansas City and its related affiliates in a professional manner. Perform other related tasks as assigned. Match Day ResponsibilitiesProspect and entertain current and prospective clients. Full-time associates act as representative of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches, engaging with guests and working to create Magic Moments for all fans.   Personal AttributesStrong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills. Collaborative approach to problem solving. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Exceptional attention to detail, and talent for accuracy and precision. Professional appearance and attitude, as well as the ability to work with others. Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent venue experience preferred. Minimum of 7 years of increasing event sales and execution responsibility in stadium, arena, or comparable public assembly facility. Minimum of 4 years of management responsibility within the event sales and execution scope. Experience working in a stadium or arena atmosphere for various types of events and layouts, including soccer, concerts, football, etc. required. Prior budgetary oversight for revenue, operational, event settlement, and payroll expenses required. Experience analyzing stadium event budget for bidding process. Proficiency in Tripleseat, Social Table, Venue Ops, and Auto CAD preferred. Must be able to fluently speak, read and write the English language. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar. Physical AbilitiesThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
