Position Description
The Vice President of Campaign and Special Projects is a strategic and innovative leader, who will be responsible for planning, executing, and guiding philanthropic strategy of a $500MM+ comprehensive campaign. They will work closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, CEO, executive leadership, stakeholders, and broader advancement team to carry out a holistic and national fundraising plan to support the campaign. They will be a natural and intuitive relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills, with a strong background in major gifts fundraising. The person will report into the Chief Advancement Officer and will oversee a Manager, Campaign.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead, devise, and oversee all campaign philanthropic planning, strategy, and activity, in partnership with Chief Advancement Officer (CAO)
Develop comprehensive campaign cultivation and solicitation strategies, often in collaboration with CAO and major gifts fundraisers regarding portfolios and prospects, and with support of Manager, Campaign
Organize and pursue philanthropic strategy for campaign committees
Grow soccer ecosystem of campaign donors, through identification of new prospects for engagement, evaluation of pipeline, and qualification of prospects
Develop and maintain campaign prospect list and timeline, and produce campaign reports, lists, and materials with support from department staff and using Salesforce
Build and manage a personal portfolio of 50-100 multi-million figure donors and prospects, fundraising towards a campaign goals
Lead planning and production of campaign events
Liaise with third parties and agencies in support of campaign-related initiatives
Collaborate and coordinate across departments on available assets
Develop and produce campaign communication, collateral, and materials
Prepare and support staff, committee members, and stakeholders through campaign solicitation efforts
Promote a culture of philanthropy across federation staff, stakeholders, and across entire organization
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor degree or higher in related field required
Minimum 10+ years of significant experience in comprehensive campaign and front-line, leadership fundraising
Minimum 5+ years of experience managing a team of fundraisers, in particular for a comprehensive campaign
Experience scaling fundraising activity preferred
Proven ability to motivate, engage, and work collaboratively at all levels with prospects, donors, leadership, stakeholders, and members of fundraising staff
CFRE Certification valued
Experience in Salesforce valued
Experience in sports nonprofit environment valued
General knowledge of soccer
Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
