Role description

Vancouver Island Wave (VI Wave) plays in the BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL). The BCSPL is a standards-based development league for girls and boys aged U14 to U17 and is positioned as the highest level of youth development soccer within BC. In addition, on the male side, VI Wave is the player development support for Pacific FC. In addition, we run the Trident Development Program, which is an open to all registration program that focuses on individual development from U8-U14.

Pacific FC is a founding member of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) and set to kick off their 5th season of professional soccer on Vancouver Island. Playing out of the 6000 seat Starlight Stadium in Langford, British Columbia, Pacific FC boasts the best sporting atmosphere on the Island with engaged fans and exciting play. The 2021 CPL Championship-winning organization is always looking to bring on talented new staff to grow our organization.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Technical Director of Youth to join our team and lead the technical aspects of VI Wave, and Trident Development Programs. If you are passionate about the elite development of boys and girls, with a particular emphasis on developing future professional players, then we want to hear from you.


The ideal candidate will have deep experience in the development of young players, and a similarly deep understanding and respect for the challenges and opportunities of youth soccer development on Vancouver Island, BC, across Canada, and the rest of the world.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


The Technical Director reports to the Managing Director, works directly with the Executive Director of Youth, and will be responsible for all aspects of the Team, including:

· Liaise with Manager of Football/ Player Development and the Pacific FC Head Coach.

· Responsible for the overall

management and direction of the club’s player and coach development programs,

along with all Powered by Pacific Programs including, but not limited to Van

Isle Wave BCSPL and Trident Development Program, TOP Program.

· Ensure all technical programs are implemented through the club’s technical staff.

· Develop and implement annual coach development programs.

· Assist in creating an online resource consisting of curriculum and activities for Van Isle Wave and Trident

Development Coaches.

· Arrange and administer BC Soccer certification courses on an annual basis.

· Assist and encourage coaching staff to continue coaching certification programs.

· Provide annual performance reviews on Van Isle Wave coaches, end of phase 1, June.

· Assist all VI Wave coaching staff with player evaluations bi-annual

· Consistent communication with BC Soccer in regard to VI Wave players.

· Oversee all technical leads across Pacific FC youth programs.

· Head of Technical Advisory Board

· Work hand in hand with the Executive Director in all youth teams and programs.

Football

· Oversee final selections for all coaching positions (head, assistant, and support staff) for the Van Isle Wave

boys and girl’s teams, in conjunction.

· Work with the Operations Manager, administrator/ coordinator to book field allocations for programs, evaluations, etc..

· Act as a liaison with other soccer clubs on Vancouver Island (LISA, UISA) and sit as a Director or Officer

on such other soccer bodies so as to promote and advance the interests of all Powered by Pacific FC Programs.

· Communicate frequently to ensure that all technical program information, coaching program information etc., is updated on the website in a timely manner.

· Responsible for the administration and on-field responsibilities of the Van Isle Wave Evaluation process (excluding BCSPL evaluations).

· Responsible for the administration and organization of the Van Isle Wave Team Sessions

· Be the main contact for all inquiries of the Van Isle Wave, with respect to technical information.

· Implement all Powered by Pacific FC programs including Trident Development Program, TOP Program, Camps, Clinics.

· Club Partnership programs, and Goalkeeping Program (support weekly with Wave goalies and Trident Development Goalies)

· Work with the Executive Director and Manager of ITC to organize and implement a spring break camp and minimum two summer soccer camps.

· Recruit and hire coaches for all VI Wave teams, approve the technical structure for all club technical programs. Work closely and communicate with the executive director to confirm the qualified coaches, pay scale and technical structure before the programs begin.

· Track member satisfaction for all programs and include that information in monthly reports to the executive

director.

· Confirm payment submission for hourly technical staff to the executive director.

· Work with the Island Training Centre to support annual tournaments, jamborees.

· Provide such other services as would normally be required of a Technical Director, for example, meeting with

parent groups of VI Wave.

· Other duties may arise from time to time and as may be assigned to the employee.


OTHER CONSIDERATIONS


Ideal candidates will have youth soccer administration experience and are comfortable having conversations with

all stakeholders

· Familiarity with Google Workspaces platforms is beneficial

· Knowledge of Pacific FC, BC Soccer and BCSPL is essential

· Must live on lower Vancouver Island

· Must be able to legally work in Canada
