Job Summary

Tottenham Hotspur is a world-famous football club based in North London. Off the pitch, the Club has a strong and successful business model centered around building a platform for long-term success. The women’s team (THWFC) is fully professional and competes in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and The FA Cup. The Club also operates a talent pathway for female players aged 8-21yrs.

The purpose of this position is to lead and drive the football programme for the Women’s U21 squad for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The squad operates as part of the FA WSL Academy and is a dual careers programme (16-21yrs), balancing equally a female player’s football development and their academic, vocational or work-based aspirations.

The successful candidate will be the main contact for the Players & Parents, Educational Partners, The Football Association and internal colleagues for all women’s U21 Matters. The U21 Head Coach will directly manage all U21 Staff to ensure the programme is being delivered against the high expectations held by the Club and in line with FA WSL Academy regulations and guidelines.

Although predominantly a technical coaching role, this position will also be expected to carry out some operational duties to ensure the effective delivery of the programme as well working closely with the Talent Pathway Manager & Head of Women’s Football to ensure the program aligns itself with the Clubs wider strategy and ‘Blueprint for Success’.

The position will involve match-day work so candidates should be willing and able to work over evenings, weekends and/or Bank Holidays.

Key Responsibilities

To be the first point of contact for the U21’s (WSL Academy)
To effectively manage and deliver the U21’s Programme in line with the Club’s strategy.
To develop and deliver a high-quality programme of coaching in line with the club philosophy
To work with the Talent Pathway Administrator for the effective operation of the Programme
Lead a multi-disciplinary team of staff to support player development in a dual career environment.
To drive and lead the games programme strategy for the U21’s squad.
To work with Talent Pathway Manager & Talent ID and Recruitment Coordinator on the identification of players of 16-19 years of age who are believed to have potential to play for the Women’s First Team.
To work with the U21’s Staff to develop players within the FA WSL Academy programme across the FA Four Corner Model and in line with the clubs philosophy, keeping the Women’s First Team Head Coach updated on all players progress.
To help develop and deliver the Clubs ‘Blueprint for Success’
To deliver appropriate staff appraisals in line with the clubs HR Protocol.
Deliver appropriate player reviews to all players within the program.
Work closely with the Education Lead ensuring all players are progressing with a ‘dual careers’ approach.
To work with Talent Pathway Manager to ensure the U21’s always meets FA WSL Academy License requirements.
To act as the main match day contact for all U21 Fixtures.
To attend all FA Meetings.

Skills & Experience

A minimum of FA Level 3 in Coaching Football (A Licence desirable)
Experience leading an Elite Player Development Programme
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
Experience and understanding of education environments
Experience and understanding of the female player development pathway
Advanced knowledge of working with female athletes
