Under 21’s Assistant Coach
Location: Staplewood Training Ground, Southampton
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent

What will you be doing?
 
The Under 21’s Assistant Coach will manage and support the individual development and transition of Under 21s players through the planning, delivery and ongoing evaluation of the interdisciplinary Player Development Programme including, but not limited to, age specific curriculum delivery, individual development plans and player transition.
 
You will be based at Staplewood Training Ground located in Marchwood, Southampton, just a 15-minute drive from the city centre and there’s free parking!
 
Responsibilities:
 
·       Support the coaching delivery of the Under 21s programme, in line with the Academy methodology and club-wide game model along with supporting the Under 21s Head Coach with match day planning, delivery and post-match review.
·       Manage and support the interdisciplinary individual development plan process for Under 21s age group, in line with club wide Player Profiles.
·       Manage the progression and pathway of players in and out of the Under 21s age group.
·       Monitor and support Under 21s players involved in First Team training, providing additional coaching support as necessary and relative to training load.
·       Support the review and interdisciplinary meeting process for players in the Under 21s.
·       Support an effective review and feedback programme with players, coaches and families to monitor and support player progress and development.
·       Play a key role in the delivery and evaluation of the Academy methodology, play book and curriculum content, as directed by the Academy Technical Board.
·       Regularly attend Academy games at Under 15s, Under 16s and Under 18s, as well as First Team.
·       Support the care and support of the well-being of Under 21s players in collaboration with the Player Care department.
·       Assist cross departmental projects which aim to improve the way data and video is used as a feedback mechanism with the staff and players.
·       Ensure that all PMA tasks are completed by the staff working with the Under 21s age group.
·       Support the Head of Academy Coaching with our in-house staff, player and parent education initiatives.
·       Sharing of relevant video, data and other resources with staff, players, parents using various Southampton FC Academy platforms.
 
 
 
Is this you?
 
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
 
·       UEFA A Licence.
·       FA Advanced Youth Award.
·       Undergraduate degree in sports coaching, sports science, performance analysis, or related subject (desirable).
·       Minimum five years coaching experience within Academy or an International Youth coaching environment at relevant age groups.
·       Minimum three years performance analysis experience within an Academy setting at relevant age groups.
·       Depth and quality of experience within individual player development in both coaching and analysis settings.
·       Ability to demonstrate a strong level of technical and tactical football knowledge and game understanding.
·       Experience in leading and developing a phase and/or team of staff in Academy environment.
·       Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
·       Track record in developing elite talent.
·       Eligible to work in the UK. Please do not apply if you require a visa.
