Role description


The FDP was launched in 2018 as a programme to support the Bradford City FC Community Foundation's scholarship programme and assist the club’s Academy. It started with one age group and has seen massive growth over the last few years to now cater for players from u9s through to u23s and has around 225 players on its books. The programme aims to create good people and develop excellent footballers and all throughout can cater for all types of players, has a training and games programme at each age along with Football & Education Scholarships post-16 and Degree programmes.


To help deliver the best Football Development Programme
To plan and deliver training sessions in line with the FDP Vision and FDP Way
Liaise with coaches to manage player workloads
Regularly conduct player fitness test to ensure high levels of performance
Record and store player data to feedback to staff
Work closely with the Injury and Rehab team to create programme for returning injured players
To attend training and games
To engage with all players and staff across the FDP

To strive to continuously develop the FDP and Scholarship programme.
To always be creative in terms of ideas to progress the respective programmes.
To assist the Head of the FDP to deliver the above.


You will be responsible for the running of a specific age group, including planning and delivering training and games along with liaising individually and collectively with the players & parents and this includes, for example, regular contact, through either electronic communications or verbal conversations, constantly reviewing their progress whilst with us and organising additional enrichment events / games. With the coaching staff and Head of the FDP, you will be responsible for each player’s pathway and helping to develop the player to reach the best levels You will always be looking and actively taking steps to continually strengthen the programme.


Status: Casual position

Contract Hours: Thursday: 5.15 – 6.30 pm; and Games: As required for games – 2 each month and to be arranged when the coach would like.

Pay: £20 per session (casual basis so where no session / game no pay)

Please note we reserve the right to vary these hours on a weekly basis and this is at the sole discretion of the Head of the FDP. Closing dates: 27 January 2023



To ensure each player knows the standards required whilst part of the FDP.
To have a great understanding of all players (and parents) within your group
To ensure each player has a football pathway whilst at the FDP and continually push this pathway internally and externally (academy referrals / semi pro football)
To assist the Head of the FDP with new players coming into the programme.
To adapt training sessions to meet the players’ needs.
To be in regular contact with all players including conducting regular reviews


To work with the staff to organise and training and games (times, dates, syllabus etc).
To help maintain the standards within the FDP on a regular basis.
To undertake activities where asked.
To deliver the highest quality programme including experience possible.
To potential supervise members of a support Department and oversee the required support from those departments for your players.
To ensure you participate in CPD monthly and, where possible, to assist with the delivery of CPD for other staff including the casual staff.
To constantly challenge and drive the quality individually and of the other staff.


To ensure each training session is delivered in accordance with the FDP Way.
To allot the required amount of time to preparing the session and work with the other members of staff around each session and the block of training / Syllabus.
To ensure the standard of coaching and delivery is of the highest quality and to support other coaches where required.
To gather good practice templates for training and share these with the group of staff and to add to the FDP’s database of standard practices.
To ensure all relevant and necessary equipment is available for each session.
To ensure training sessions are set up prior to the arrival of the players.


Prepare each game in a timely manner – where the games are on a Saturday, you will prepare the game on the Monday before.
To ensure the playing kit, warm up jackets and any other necessary equipment is organised in a timely fashion
To ensure the players’ “game experience” is as positive as possible and thus you will look to delivery pre game plans / meetings where possible; To ensure your group has a fixture each week;
To constantly seek new challenges in terms of opposition.


To assist with the recruitment of new players into the FDP
To work closely with the staff to ensure the link into the Foundation Phase then to YDP to the Football & Education Phase is strong and there is a planned transition across from one to the other (including organising regular joint training sessions).


To adhere to all internal standards of the FDP and Foundation.
To work within the necessary legislation including covering child protection and data protection.
To ensure the programme’s reputation is professional and maintained at all times and to help grow this.
To always strive to be better constantly.
