ABOUT THE ROLE
The Tournament Director is responsible for the comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup operations, under the guidance of the Local Organising Committe (LOC) and AFC Head of Asian Cup Office (ACO).

This role involves strategic oversight of all tournament operations to ensure efficient Tournament delivery in accordance with AFC requirements outlined in the Organising Association Agreement OAA), Stadium Technical Annex (STA), List of Requirements, Policies/ Guidelines and other AFC directives.

Please note that this role is fixed term until post tournament in 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee and report on the budget attributed to Tournament Operations.
Plan and execute protocols and services for dignitaries and guests, ensuring compliance with AFC protocol guidelines and STA requirements.
Organise domestic travel arrangements for all persons and constituent groups involved in the staging of the tournament, including to assist with all transport arrangements to and from airports, hotels, stadiums, and official training sites.
Manage logistics to ensure timely delivery of all equipment and services
Oversee and manage accommodation requirements, as outlined in the AFC List of Requirements.
Supervise all operational aspects of tournament venues, ensuring AFC and STA compliance, and smooth coordination of the spectator flow within and outside of Stadiums. Maintaining strong relations with Venue Managers.
Provide comprehensive support to teams, including logistical coordination and problem resolution.
Manage training sites, ensuring AFC standards
Develop and implement security plans in coordination with government authorities, ensuring the security, safety and personal protection of all stakeholders participating in and/or attending the Tournament.
Working with government and stadium authorities, manage access control for secure entry and exit at venues, complying with various AFC policies and requirements.
Facilitate an accreditation system to enable everyone officially connected with the Competition to be identified and gain access to their respective areas of work or participation, as per the AFC’s Accreditation Policy.
Organise and stage the opening and closing ceremony in accordance with AFC requirements.
Where applicable, manage and stage all other official functions, including key milestones related to the Tournament.

ABOUT YOU

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Previously managed successful large-scale international football events, including overseeing large tenders and event contracts
Strong event and facility operations expertise
Proven leadership experience, demonstrates the ability to manage cross functional large teams, oversee complex operations, and drive organisational success.
Exceptional budget management and project delivery, especially in temporary overlay
Evaluates critical issues with diverse viewpoints to meet broader football objectives, for the long-term sustainability of football in Australia
Fosters seamless and timely collaboration and communication between all relevant stakeholders.
Understanding of local and global football, respected within the community
Asia-literacy and experience in working in Asian cultural contexts
Degree in Sports and or Event Management, or related field.
10+ years of experience in the major events industry or related fields

National Police Check
International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
