Role description

Following a successful first year, we are delighted to launch The Hive for the 2023/24 season, a Club initiative that aims to offer those looking to start a career in the sports industry the chance to learn more about a wide range of areas, from business operations to community initiatives, and roles supporting our football performance.

Candidates can apply to join The Hive and successful members will gain valuable insight into the running of the football club, receive advice from Club employees covering a broad skillset of roles, benefit from networking opportunities, receive invitations to Club events and be the first to hear of our job vacancies.

The Hive scheme will run from November 2023 to May 2024 and will involve:
• A kick-off day at Turf Moor, with insight offered into the business of football, networking with scheme members and Burnley FC staff, followed by the opportunity to take in a first team game.
• Monthly insight talks, in which Burnley FC or industry leaders speak about their experiences in the industry and offer advice.
• Mentorship scheme, where members are paired up with a Burnley FC staff member working in a particular area of interest. Hive members are given the opportunity to shadow the staff member at Turf Moor or via active participation in meetings online.
• Group supervision of a piece of thinking around a key emerging topic in sport and completion of a project e.g., around sustainability, new media, fan engagement.
• Invitations to further events at Turf Moor or additional locations.

This is an entry level programme; we are looking for candidates who are keen to gain experience and understanding of the sports industry.
• We welcome applications from those just starting out in their career.
• Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
• Candidates must be available to travel to Burnley, 2/3 times per year.

To build our initial cohort, Burnley FC are looking for people to:

• Attend a virtual interview with Burnley FC staff for shortlisted candidates
