Position Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Technical Development, the Manager of Technical Development will support and drive the objectives of the U.S. Soccer's technical plan. This individual is responsible for managing technical development projects and programs to align the different sporting departments and soccer landscape (membership, clubs, and other stakeholders) concerning the organization's vision, mission, and strategic objectives regarding the technical plan. In addition, this role will influence players, coaches, and technical leaders and positively impact the future of soccer in the United States.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide research and analysis for game development (the future game), talent identification, and talent development
Support the development of a soccer identity and a high-performance environment in the United States to develop future generations of world-class creative players and successful national teams
Provide strategic support to develop the USSF technical plan further
Lead assigned technical workgroups to develop the USSF technical plan
Monitor best practices in technical matters and support the development of a technical platform
Support the development of key relationships with USSF stakeholders, members, and clubs to ensure technical direction is aligned with the technical plan
Coaching Education

Support the creation and delivery of the USSF base course for coach educators regarding the U.S. Soccer vision on talent identification and talent development
Deliver support for coach education programs in creating alignment with USSF's overall technical vision and strategy (technical plan)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher
USSF A-License or higher for at least three years
Strong knowledge of soccer, talent identification, and talent development
Understanding the soccer landscape and its current player development challenges
Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow
Must be able to connect "micro" details to the "macro" vision and mission
Ability to deliver high-quality work and execute under pressure and deadlines
Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication combined with a professional demeanor
Able and willing to travel up to 50% of the year
Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
Desired Qualifications

Passion for soccer
Master’s degree in Sport & Exercise Science, Psychology, a related field
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Experience as USSF coach educator
Well-developed leadership and management skills with a track record in developing and implementing a technical vision and driving change both culturally and structurally
Proficient experience with SportsCode
Demonstrate an understanding of both the women's game and the men's game
Demonstrate an understanding of youth soccer (Girls & Boys)
Previous experience with a club or national team for at least five years
