Job Description Job Purpose The Targeted Intervention Youth Worker will be responsible for 1-2-1 mentoring work for young people referred into Targeted Intervention. You will work directly with young people who may be at high risk/involved in offending behaviours, criminal exploitation, excluded from mainstream school, anti-social behaviour or serious youth violence. This role will include outreach community work alongside work within schools across London Borough’s of Croydon, Bromley Sutton and Lambeth. Creating partnerships will be key; you will be expected to establish links with key stakeholders across the boroughs, and create referral pathways to signpost young people to additional services where needed. Job Requirements Essential Knowledge/Qualifications A minimum level 2 in Youth Work or mentoring qualification or wiliness to work towards Knowledge around topics such as county lines, gangs/ serious youth violence and knife crime awareness Safeguarding qualification Experience Experience in youth work or 1-2-1 mentoring Experience managing a caseload of individuals Proven track record of working with ‘at risk’ young people Experience working in diverse communities Technical Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Proficient at case and report writing Attributes A true passion and interest in developing and supporting young people who are at-risk Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and engage with young people The ability to listen non-judgmentally and remain open minded to the individual’s situation Other A flexible approach towards working practice and working hours Commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and inclusivity An understanding of the issues and barriers impacting young people in south London Able to travel across south London to carry out community outreach work Desirable Knowledge/Qualifications Emergency First Aid Certificate Youth MHFA Certificate Experience Experience of partnership/inter-agency working as part of a team around complex young people Experience of working with young people with mental health needs Technical Skills Possess clean driving licence Experience of using data management systems
