The Sr. Vice President, Soccer Operations will oversee USL league operations for USL professional and preprofessional properties. This position will collaborate with various stakeholders on all aspects of soccer operations. This position will work closely across departments at the league office to ensure the competition is successfully executed at the highest level throughout the USL ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Oversee and partner with USL League Operations teams to provide cohesive and supportive business and operations plans for all USL league properties.
Execute the efficient and successful operations of USL professional and pre-professional properties.
Serve as a primary point of contact for USL professional and pre-professional owners/presidents and prospective owners on soccer operations matters.
Provide advisement and suggestions to the USL Executive Team regarding issues, particularly issues related to league minimum standards.
Assist with USL professional and pre-professional ongoing expansion and club onboarding efforts.
Oversee in-season processes such as player discipline reports, minimum standards adherence, dispute resolution, travel logistics, and all other competition and operations-based logistics.
Oversee the development, implementation, and management of the season schedule including all League deliverables associated with any given game such as game previews, communication of referee assignments, etc.
Oversee the planning and execution of current and prospective sporting events conducted by USL, including but not limited to: Championship Final, Super League Final, League One Final, League Two Final, and W League Final, USL Game of the Week Series, USL Summer Showcase, USL Academy Cup and USL Academy Playoffs, Super Y League Finals, and other prospective events.
Work closely with the Operations, Competition, Events, Media, and Business Development teams on event presentation, game day timelines and scripts, and activations.
Oversee external communications with third party operations contacts at PRO, USSF, CONCACAF, etc.
Work collaboratively with members of USL headquarters operations teams in the development of cohesive support efforts on behalf of USL players and clubs.
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Minimum of 8 - 10 years of related experience required.
Demonstrated ability to influence, work with cross-functional teams and interact effectively with all levels.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent programs/projects and lead them to completion.
Experience facilitating difficult conversations and demonstrating high judgment around confidential or sensitive matters.
Strong presentation abilities, both written and verbal with excellent public speaking and group facilitation skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners.
Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.
Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if/when necessary.
Must have U.S. work authorization.
