Job Title: Sports Science/ Strength and Conditioning Coach
Reporting to: Head of Sports Therapy
Responsible for: First Team and Matchday support
Contract: Permanent
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week, to include all home matches
Salary: £12,000pa
Notts County Football Club is looking for a passionate and committed Strength and Conditioning Coach where you will support the planning, development and delivery of the Sports Science and Strength & Conditioning programmes for the Men’s First Team.
This role is responsible for enhancing physical performance of all players individually and collectively in readiness for match day performance and long-term player development. You will work alongside the players to maximise their athletic capacity by improving on areas such as strength, power and endurance using modalities on and off the pitch.
Key Responsibilities:
Development and delivering of gym and grass-based Strength and Conditioning Programmes for first team players.
Monitor and manage player gym and grass-based loading strategies.
Plan, periodize, and coach pre-training activation sessions which align with the technical and physical theme of the day.
Planning, leading and assisting warmups for grass-based sessions.
Programming and delivery of corrective/injury prevention programmes.
Planning and delivery of Strength and Conditioning programming for injured players, aligned with return to play protocols alongside the medical department.
Uploading and tracking player data through GPS systems to advise on their ideal training and match-day load.
Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of sports science and medical staff to monitor player readiness, detect asymmetries and/or maladaptation’s to training.
Take part in external and internal CPD, maintain knowledge of contemporary research and trends within the field and contribute to the evolution of the current program within the multidisciplinary team.
Education/Qualifications/Training:
BSc Sport Science/Strength & Conditioning/Related Field
MSc Sport Science/Strength & Conditioning/Related Field
UKSCA Accreditation or a suitable alternative (EXOS, NASM, CSCS)
Specific/relevant Experience:
Experience working in an elite professional environment.
Experience in planning and delivering gym-based strength and conditioning support for teams whilst tailoring individual athlete’s needs.
Demonstrable experience in planning, delivery, and evaluation of performance development programmes.
Experience monitoring and advising on player load through GPS tracking systems.
Experience working in a professional football setup.
Working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve an aligned outcome.
Experience in delivery injury rehabilitation and return to play programmes.
Help to deliver physical testing at regular and agreed times throughout the season and thereafter develop and implement action plans.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of long-term athletic development
Widespread knowledge of strength and conditioning programming to athletically develop athletes.
Ability to reflect on current practice and evolve programmes through contemporary research.
Develop excellent relationships with players, coaches and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
This is a part-time and permanent role and is based at the Club’s offices at Meadow Lane, Nottingham. The post holder will be required to perform their duties and/or additional work or attend training outside of normal office hours and/or in different locations.
