Chicago Fire Football Club is a Major League Soccer team that was founded in 1997 and is Chicago’s ambassador to the global sport of soccer. The Club recently returned to Soldier Field as well as opened a new 50,000 square foot office in the heart of the city. With tremendous growth and expansion, the Club is laying the foundation for an audacious and ambitious vision that will transform the brand and the success of the Club in the coming years.
The 2022 Chicago Fire Summer Internship Program is designed to provide outstanding individuals interested in a career in sports with the opportunity to experience the inner workings of a professional sports team firsthand. Running from May – August this paid program provides individual's with the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that contribute to the organization's success while developing their personal and business acumen. Those selected will gain invaluable work experience through interesting project assignments, meetings with Club employees across the organization, and various additional events (such as Chicago Fire matches at Soldier Field). Such position is located at the Chicago Fire’s SeatGeek Stadium office (or remote if appropriate). Interns will be required to work 20 to 30 hours per week with flexibility.

Chicago Fire Football Club is seeking a Sports Nutrition Intern to assist in the planning and execution of all clinical, performance and foodservice based nutrition services provided to players.
Job Responsibilities:· Manage daily tasks such as stocking refrigerators and coolers, setting up supplement stations, stocking snack station, packing game day fuel (for home and away games), and preparing nutrition shakes.· Assist in player data collection and analysis (hydration, weights, body composition, intake, etc.)· Manage ordering, inventory, and stocking of Supplement closet/Lounge/Meal Room· Assist in menu planning with head Dietitian and nutrient analysis of menu items· Assist in player education initiatives and development of resources· Counseling/develop plan for return to play/injured players· Collaborate and communicate with coaching staff, sport medicine, food service staff, players and administration· Participate in Sports Performance meetings· Stay up to date on recent research of various nutritional products, practices and supplements· Monthly article reviews with supervisor (journal club)· Assist in planning and executing outside meals/snacks, away game hotel meals/snacks, charter flight meals/snacks, the game day locker room nutrition station, and postgame meals· Computing- proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat, Canva· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:· Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics; Exercise Physiology (mandatory)· Registered Dietitian or currently enrolled in Dietetic Internship· Food Handlers Permit (preferred)· 6 months experience in collegiate or professional sports nutrition environment (mandatory)· Experience with food service· Good at Problem Solving and Action Planning, Time Management, Punctuality, Organization, Dependability, Attention to Detail, Observant, Creative, Professional· Understanding of HIPPA and professional codes of conduct· Fully Vaccinated for COVID-19· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal· Ability to work autonomously and use excellent judgment in escalating issues to supervisors· Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, high-performing work environment
Hours and Compensation:- Position includes travel to home games- Compensation is hourly - 2 meals/day provided at least 5 days of the week.
