Soccer Sports Performance Coach
Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Soccer Sports Performance Coach to support the NCAA Division I women’s soccer program. Duties include: design and implement cutting edge strength, agility, and conditioning programs for assigned player positions; teach and demonstrate proper techniques and safety; educate student-athletes and coaches on sport performance related issues and needs; conduct performance testing; adapt workouts based on each student-athlete’s individual needs and health as directed; motivate athletes; and maintain computer data and analysis on student-athletes. Work closely with the Sports Medicine professionals and coaches. The position will run sports performance practices and game preparation and aid the coaching staff by managing the Catapult program, data, and preparing daily performance reports on student-athletes and assist in analyzing the data. The position will contribute to an environment conducive to the welfare and success of the student-athletes and must establish and maintain effective interactions with the coaches, university community, alumni, media and the public. Must demonstrate commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.
Other responsibilities may include: practice calendars, coordinate pre-game functions; serve as liaison between soccer and other department units on behalf of the head coach; coordinate special events; and other related operations. The position will work regularly with Catapult and PlayerMaker systems.
The ideal candidate will have solid technical knowledge related to S&C for soccer; strong organization, decision making, database, and analytical skills; and exceptional teaching, motivational and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Must be available and flexible to work evenings and/or weekends and to travel with the team to assigned competitions.
Candidates will be required to maintain current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program in accordance with NCAA requirements.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Experience coaching strength and conditioning or sports performance for a highly competitive program.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa.
CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
Master’s degree, ideally in exercise science, kinesiology or related field.
Experience planning and implementing all areas of sports performance for an elite-level soccer team.
Experience monitoring and preparing athlete performance reports through Catapult.
