The Whitecaps FC mission is To Unite and Inspire Our Communities both on and off the pitch. We are calling for new team players who are interested in developing a career in the sports industry and want to contribute to the Vancouver Whitecaps culture.

The Whitecaps FC Soccer Operations & Performance Student Practicum is designed to foster a team of developing talent to match the ambitions of our MLS 2022 season and will offer internships roles that include a combination of the following areas:

Sport Science / Data Science
Physical Preparation / Strength & Conditioning
Sports Medicine
Technical / Tactical Analysis
What You Will Learn:


As a Whitecaps FC Soccer Operations & Performance Practicum Student , you will hone your skills across performance domains while contributing to the club’s fundamental principles within the overall performance strategy. At the conclusion of your time with the club, you will understand and appreciate an integrated performance approach at the highest level – incorporating physical, psychological, technical, and tactical elements in a collaborative environment. Earlier on in the practicum, you will deliberately be exposed to departments across the club to improve your ability to communicate as a ‘generalist’ in elite sport. As you progress, you will specialize in a stream of your choice, which will facilitate your development in your chosen field.

Student practicums are one semester placements for course credit, divided into 4-week blocks with distinct learning objectives at each stage, culminating in a capstone project. Practicums may be with the First Team, MLS Next Pro, or Academy Teams. They have an estimated weekly time commitment of 10-16 hours per week (usually 2-3 days of 5-6 hours/day) for the duration of the semester, subject to change with the team schedule.

Requirements:

Eligibility to receive an course credit for the internship program is required
Dedicate approximately 10-16 hours a week from Mid-May 2022
Availability to work BC Place match days and other special events during the duration of the program
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and virtual meeting platforms (MS Teams, Zoom)
There is not an option for remote work at this time
