Role description

In 2022, Football Australia will host major internationals for the senior national teams, youth teams, and deliver a new and invigorated Australia Cup, Australia's largest community-to-professional sporting tournament.Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Events, the Senior Manager - Major Events and Stakeholder Engagement will own and lead all major event delivery, working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to deliver world class experiences for fans, athletes, and partners.Duties Responsibilities:
Major Event Operations

Lead and oversee the Events Team in the planning and delivery for international events such as Socceroos and Commonwealth Bank Matildas match days, fan days and other associated events
Oversee the quality of delivery and the detailed operational planning documents for all Football Australia events and other special projects
Refine manage various event specific budgets as well as the yearly event team budgets
In conjunction with General Manager – Competitions and Participation, assist with delivery of newly re-branded Australia Cup, Australia's largest domestic knockout competition
Research relevant market trends, international football, and other international and domestic entertainment products

Stakeholder Engagement Management

Liaise with venues on commercial hire terms and other associated agreements for Football Australia events
Manage the tender process for Football Australia event related contractors as well as subsequent onboarding and other negotiation as required
Work closely with broadcast on integration and growth opportunities across all Football Australia events
Liaise with external international organisations including FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and visiting nations on event, commercial and match regulations in order to implement successful National Team events
Build and maintain key relationships with domestic and international football stakeholders, counterparts at venues and other sporting codes to ensure a best practice approach to all Football Australia managed events
Work closely with various internal Football Australia departments such as National Teams, Commercial, Marketing, Communications, Competitions and Community to ensure a collaborative and consistent delivery of operations across all Football Australia events
Manage day to day relationships and the operations of key external event stakeholders such as Broadcast, Sport Presentation, Signage and Security
Maximise the commercial outcomes around all Football Australia events

Team Leadership

Lead the Events Department and team members to create and deliver best practice, fan focused events that increase the profile of football
Motivate and inspire the events team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages cohesion, and demonstrates flexibility.
Set clear goals and objectives, while supporting team members in achieving professional and organisational goals.

Experience and skills required:

Substantial knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of sporting events and/or major events with a strong project management focus
Extensive experience working with venues and stakeholders on commercial hire terms and other agreements
Proven experience and ability in leading and growing a team of staff in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal Football - Australia departments and external stakeholders, event contractors and agencies
Ability to take a strategic view on major event planning delivery whilst simultaneously exhibiting a strong attention to detail
Experience in the commercial operations relating to sporting events, venues, and contractors
Strong communications (verbal written) relationship management skills
Strong project management disciplines inclusive of the ability to prioritise at peak times
Strong attention to detail, high standards of integrity, ability to represent Football Australia's interests
This position will be required to travel domestically and on occasion, internationally
This position will require significant work during non-business hours, including weekends
