A Senior First Team Rehabilitation Physiotherapist is required to ensure excellence in rehabilitation delivery with the aim of minimizing time lost through injury of First Team players. This will be done through clear rehabilitation planning and the use of specific objective markers to guide return to play. This will be a collaborative effort achieved by working closely with other physiotherapists and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
The following job description sets out the duties, which the Senior First Team Rehabilitation Physiotherapist is to provide as part of the Medical Department.
This is a role for an outstanding leader within the field of sports physiotherapy who has the experience and vision to deliver excellent physiotherapy and rehabilitation skills. The successful applicant will look to improve the processes already in place and be innovative in creating performance advantages for the team.
You must be able to work as a part of a large MDT and draw upon the expertise of others within our club to optimize player care. This includes other Physiotherapists, Doctors, Sports Scientists, Nutritionists, Psychologists, Coaches and Analysts.
A flexible candidate is sought. The position will involve working irregular hours (eg, evenings / Saturdays / Sundays / Bank Holidays) as well as some occasional travel.
Your duties are to lead the rehabilitation services of the First Team Squad and work under the guidance of the Head Physiotherapist and Head of Medical to achieve the highest standards. You will also help in ensuring a consistent approach to rehabilitation throughout the Development Squad and Academy.
Multilingual language skills would be a significant advantage for this role.
Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation:
Your duties predominantly involve but are not exclusive to the First Team Squad.
Act as team leader for the rehabilitation of injured players and liaise with senior staff on their progress.
Manage the delivery of rehabilitation by other physiotherapists on a daily basis, ensuring rehabilitation is optimized by close and consistent integration between physiotherapy and sport science.
Build healthy relationships with injured players to ensure their confidence in their plan and rehabilitation process.
Aim to return players to full participation in a timely manner whilst ensuring clinical and functional goals are met through excellent planning.
Provide information and ensure a plan is in place for ongoing post-injury care with the wider medical team.
Work primarily with the First Team but set clear philosophies for rehabilitation and engage with the Development and Academy Squads. This includes consulting with staff from other squads on complex or difficult rehabilitations they may have.
Lead in the design of rehabilitation plans that are athlete focused and strive for the continued development of player performance.
Line manage and Lead the First Team Rehabilitation Physiotherapists.
Play an active part in medical team meetings to inform the wider team of players status.
Lead regular rehabilitation meetings which involve the wider MDT from across the club.
Be available to assist in the treatment of fit First Team players when required around training to optimize availability for training sessions and matches.
Assist in the effective recovery strategies of players undertaking busy match schedules.
Communicating with the injured player you will need good communication with the Head of Medical, Head of Physiotherapy and other medical and non-medical staff involved in the rehabilitation process.
Maintain confidentiality of all persons treated and full medical notes kept for all treatments.
You will be part of the wider Physiotherapy team serving the First Team Squad and as such you may be asked to assist in other areas of Physiotherapy provision as is required.

Evidence of postgraduate study will be required.
Language skills would be beneficial, particularly Spanish, Italian, or French.
Previous experience of being a team lead or managing staff is an advantage.
You must always maintain current registration with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Health Professionals Council.
You must also ensure you maintain continuous professional development as required by the Health Professional Council (HPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) guidelines.
Maintain current ATMMiF qualifications as set out by the Football Association.
