Role description
Celtic Football Club is currently seeking a Senior Business Development Manager within the Commercial department at Celtic Football Club. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, this role will target and explore commercial partners for Celtic FC globally, and enhance Celtic FC’s partnership across Football programmes and Commercial Activities. In addition, the Senior Business Development Manager will contribute to the international expansion of Celtic FC via the development of commercial initiatives in globally.
Key accountabilities will include:
Support and build on existing business development strategy within the Commercial department
Help grow the Celtic FC Partnership portfolio by identifying and securing new partners
Develop and maintain relationships with existing partners to grow new business and ensure renewals
Create sales forecasts and actively work towards achieving KPI’s and deliver the key objectives
Assist Head of Business Development in ensuring all department sales targets are met for the year
Where possible sell partnerships for the Celtic Women’s Team, Girls Academy and the B Team
Assist Head of Business Development with weekly department reporting
Identify new areas of business and revenue generation for the club
Manage a new sales resource within the department should this be required, providing effective leadership and enabling the continuous development and improvement of direct reports
Review sales tools and collateral with Head of Business Development
Work with key internal stakeholders including the Commercial team, Marketing and Multimedia team, Ticketing etc. to ensure a collaborative approach to business and brand development
Develop and expand on local market research
Support for Celtic FC Business Development Department across all international markets
Research key information to fully evaluate the market opportunities, defining key players and developing business propositions based on prospective clients strategic decisions
Development of bespoke partnership proposals to suit the needs of individual companies
Identify new business opportunities including new clients, new markets, new partnerships or products
Create strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities
Attend networking events, build relationships with industry partners and stay up to date with the latest market trends
Maintain a strong understanding of Celtic FC and the company’s products
Skills and Experience required:
Strong knowledge of Celtic Football Club and international football markets
Educated to MBA level or similar
Experience working within a professional sport environment
Passionate about delivering revenue objectives and thrive when creating new business opportunities
An understanding of brand dynamics and consumer trends
Significant demonstrable experience in sponsorship sales and partnership development
Excellent presentational skills and ability to influence audience with credible business content
Time management skills including the ability to prioritise demands and thrive under pressure
Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Experience in Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
Knowledge of key commercial drivers and sales focused
Experienced negotiator with ability to influence decision makers
Ability to manage complex processes
Meticulous while showing attention to detail and highly numerate
Strategic planning skills with ability to turn insight into business and partnership opportunities
Autonomous and proactive approach, with ability to manage own workload, and work as part of a team
Ability to work with discretion and maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times
Resilient and adaptable approach to working within a face-paced working environment
Additional requirements
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and match days
Passport holder with a willingness to travel internationally
Full driving licence
