Job Title: SEND Officer 


Department: Disability Social Inclusion  


Location:  Various locations/Schools across Burnley and Pendle 


Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st July 2024 


Working Pattern: Part Time – 21 Hours per week (Flexible: Monday – Sunday: some evenings/weekends) 


Closing Date: Monday 14th August 2023 


Interview Date: TBC 


Salary:  £19,000 - £20,000 (per annum pro rata)

As part of our dedicated Disability provision, ‘Limitless Clarets’, we are looking for an SEND Officer who will predominantly be based in Schools and provide high-quality educational activities which enable young people with special education needs, impairments and/or disability to achieve and experience success. 


Through continuous monitoring and evaluation, strong working relationships, strategic planning and excellence in delivery, the SEND Officer will ensure that all service level agreement objectives with the schools are met and surpassed. 


The role will also support delivery of our ‘Limitless Clarets’ sessions which take place at our Leisure Box Facility in Brierfield on weekday evenings.   


 


Roles and Responsibilities 



Reporting to the Youth Engagement Manager, the SEND Officer will be expected to:  



Deliver high-quality sessions that engage, enthuse and progress young people and provide inclusive provisions.  


Engage, inspire and empower young people with SEND to reach their full potential. 


Support the development and delivery of high-quality, impactful sport and youth engagement sessions in areas of high need across Burnley and Pendle and the wider East Lancashire area. 


Ensure all service level agreement objectives with schools are met and surpassed. 


Support the strategic planning and excellent delivery of our ‘Limitless Clarets’ provision in schools and sessions. 


Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders. 


Support the monitoring and evaluation of the ‘Limitless Clarets’ provision 


Understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role and use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment.  


Be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires. 


Work towards agreed objectives. 


Comply with all Charity policies. 


Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner. 


Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice. 


Hold a commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace.

Essential Qualifications, Experience Skills 



Professional qualification in Sports Coaching. (e.g., Multi-Sport, Football, or another sport) 


Experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND), impairments and/or Disabilities. 


Experience delivering sports sessions to young people with SEND.  


Have an understanding on SEND, Impairments and disability  


Ability to adapt and diversify delivery in sessions 


An understanding of young people’s risks, challenges and needs. 


An understanding of safeguarding procedures. 


To be responsible to safeguard the welfare of children and adults at risk. 


Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening). 


Excellent organisation, time management prioritisation skills. 


Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire others 



Desirable Qualifications, Experience Skills 



FA Level 2 in Coaching Football. 


Be trained in additional ways to communicate, for example, Makaton, sign-a-long or British Sign Language. 


A positive attitude towards professional development and their own learning. Including, Sign Language, Team Teach, Multi-Sports Level 2, Youth Work Level 2.  


Be trained in Team-Teach/ completed de-escalation trained.
