NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.  The Role: Gotham FC is seeking a Scout that will report to the General Manager (GM). Under the direction of the General Manager (GM) and Chief Soccer Officer (CSO), the Gotham FC Scout will be responsible for player identification, particularly contributing in-depth player information and assessment, from early identification to advanced scouting evaluations, reporting, ranking and projection of potential player acquisitions for the club.   Key Responsibilities: Execute domestic scouting operations through video live scouting, including growing the club’s knowledge of NWSL, USL Super League, and NCAA Execute international scouting operations through video live scouting, focusing on the markets denoted by Director of Scouting Roster Development Consistently add to update Club’s database of players with all of the corresponding background details submitted, ensuring depth and quality of information provided; particularly focus on appropriate teams (college, senior national teams, youth national teams, domestic clubs, international clubs, etc.) Create written video scouting reports for relevant player targets based on Club-specific positional profiles so that Club technical staff (GM, CSO, Head Coach, etc.) can make informed decisions about talent (capturing on-field assessments, likely costs, character references, etc.) Provide continual new scouting reports on high priority potential prospects; meet all weekly goals for quantity and quality of scouting reports, as well as surfacing determined number of top prospects per week Create player shortlists to highlight players of certain positions / circumstances that should be of particular interest to the Club Collaborate with Director of Data Analytics to find opportunities for data to be used in maximizing player identification Develop maintain a strong network of individual contacts within markets as designated by Director of Scouting Roster Development, including Sporting Directors, Coaches, Agents, and other key stakeholders Work with Club Technical Staff and Scouting Dept. to enhance Gotham FC's relationship with domestic and international clubs, colleges, youth academies, and governing bodies Cross-reference with Scouting Dept. to ensure Gotham FC has an in-person presence at important domestic international tournaments Continuously evaluate opportunities for the Club / Scouting Dept. to adopt new scouting techniques / tools / software / strategies to gain a competitive advantage and maximize quality of players scouted Record details of work undertaken in line with Gotham Scouting Dept. procedures   Qualifications: At least five (5) years of experience as a scout in a professional women’s club  Significant knowledge of NWSL and women’s soccer landscape domestically internationally Have a proven track record in scouting Must be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends, including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays, when necessary Must be flexible and willing to travel both domestically internationally Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful (not required)   Capability Other Characteristics: Demonstrated administrative and organizational abilities to manage multiple individuals, programs and priorities, including short-term (event) and long-term planning Demonstrated ability to communicate thoughts and ideas to staff and colleagues effectively, in a way that is clear and respectful, both orally and in writing Ability to manage and communicate with a network of agents and contacts within various levels of soccer, both domestic and abroad Represent Gotham FC in a professional manner on all club related travel and scouting trips Possess the ability to foster professional connections with representatives (agents, families, etc.) of targeted talent  Location:  This position is based at Gotham FC’s soccer operations office and practice facility, currently located in Whippany, New Jersey.  If applicable: Ability to work at the team’s business office, currently located in Jersey City, as needed will also be required. The person must be able and willing to attend all Gotham FC home games, and as necessary, away games and other business-related travel.
