1. The Department
Our Boys Academy Department has been awarded the prestigious category one status accolade, demonstrating that we provide the highest level of quality coaching, education, training and facilities for our youth football provision.
We are looking for a full-time Psychologist to join our growing Performance Psychology Department. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a high-performing department, supporting the development of our Academy footballers. As Psychologists we are fully immersed within the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
2. The Role
We are looking for a passionate and professional individual who will work closely with players, staff and parents to build strong relationships and provide high-class performance psychology support. This role will require you to build strong relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders. The successful candidate would uphold our academy values of belonging, collaboration, excellence, inspire and respect.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing performance psychology support through the delivery of various psychoeducation sessions, individual 1-1s, player profiling and return to play support
- Creating and leading a performance psychology programme to support the development of goal keepers across the Boys Academy
- Supporting the delivery of a coach development programme, including the provision of resources, 1-1 sessions and the delivery of Continued Professional Development (CPD) sessions
- Supporting the delivery of a parent programme to broaden their understanding of psychology and how to support the psychological development of their child
- Supporting the delivery of a staff CPD programme

3. The Person
You will hold an undergraduate degree in Sport Psychology, Sport and Exercise Science or a related field of study, and a MSc degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology or equivalent. To be considered for the role, you will need to hold Health Care and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration or be enrolled on an accredited training course such as British Psychological Society (BPS) Stage 2 or British Association of Sport and Exercise Science Sport and Exercise Psychology Accreditation Route (BASES SEPAR).
With extensive knowledge of psychological principles and experience within an elite youth environment, you will have the skills to provide relatable, evidence-based psychological support for players, parents and staff. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to build relationships across the Boys Academy. You will be organised and efficient, striving for excellence and willing to make a big contribution within the department.
