Role description
Sunderland AFC are looking to recruit an exceptionalPhysical Performance Coachto help us deliver a world-class performance programme to our players at the beginning of the performance pathway (FP/YDP).
Reporting to the Head of Performance and Medicine, the successful candidate will work as a key part of our Performance team, working closely with the Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach, Performance Coaches at the Professional Development Phases (U18 and U21), and with the wider Performance and Medical team to deliver a leading FP and YDP performance programme at our world-class training facility.
Core Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
In collaboration with the Academy Coaching, Medical and Performance teams, plan, programme and deliver performance support (gym and pitch based) to all male U9-U16 players, which is underpinned by sound scientific evidence and practice-based rationale.
Maintain a comprehensive database of performance testing, monitoring and training conducted with all players.
Collate, analyse and feedback relevant performance information to players and staff.
To work in a multidisciplinary environment andhelp foster professional relationships with physios, performance staff and coaches.
Update the PMA and contribute to individual player development plans.
Keep detailed records relating to the growth and maturation status of all Academy players.
Attend and actively participate in performance and medical meetings and internal CPD.
To manage the space, storage and equipment, ensuring equipment is set-up and put away safely.
Work alongside the Performance and Medical staff to ensure the performance programme across the Academy complies with, and exceeds, the requirements of its Category One status.
Actively engage with continuing professional development and work with the Head of Performance and Medicine to maintain an up-to-date personal development plan.
Be a key member of the Academy support staff, supporting the Academy Manager in delivering the wider strategic aims of the development programme.
Fully comply and be an advocate of safeguarding in the workplace.
Essential Criteria:
BSc in a Sports Science / Strength & Conditioning related discipline.
BASES Accreditation or currently on the Supervised Experience pathway.
The ability to demonstrate good session planning, squad management and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria:
MSc in a Sports Science / Strength & Conditioning related discipline
UKSCA Accreditation (or currently working towards)
FA EFAiF.
UKAD Introduction to Clean Sport.
Professional experience within a Category One/Two Academy.
The position is full time (40 hours per week), the availability to work flexible is essential to suit business needs. Additionally, you are required to work all home and away fixtures and special events unless previously agreed with your manager.
