We are driving forward the future of women's sports and building a team internally that shares that vision.The Washington Spirit leadership is setting a vision and building an infrastructure in which all the players and staff can thrive. The newly formed Performance, Medical and Research Innovation Department will be a key part of that process. The strategic vision of the Department is to ‘Empower, educate and develop women by providing bespoke high performance and medical support, creating a unique and inspiring World Class environment.’ Position Summary:  The Performance Psychology Manager will:Provide individual and team psychology and well being support, including individual counseling, bespoke strategies and education, to enhance the health, recovery and performance of athletes. In collaboration with the Head Coach, President of Soccer Operations, Senior Director of Performance, Medical and Innovation develop and implement the vision, mission and core values of Washington Spirit.Develop optimal psychology and lifestyle strategies specific to female athletes.Ensure integrated cutting-edge, and female-focused Performance Psychology support for Washington Spirit players.Work closely with the Technical, Medical and Performance Multi-Disciplinary Team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for delivering cutting-edge bespoke Well Being and Performance Psychology support to all Washington Spirit players. Provide Performance Psychology support to players, and staff, during training sessions and games, with some travel required. Provide performance-based evaluations and team mental performance interventions for players, coaches and support staff.Develop educational wellness programs and develop resources and implementation of programming to proactively destigmatize and address mental health.Communicate and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders internally.Design, position and deliver practical support, education and interventions that enable players, coaches and staff to thrive on and off the pitch.Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records of key professional interactions. In collaboration with the Performance and Medical staff support and monitor players during off-season training.Work collaboratively with the Director of Performance and Innovation, and Director of Medical to provide Multi-Disciplinary support by implementing and monitoring optimal female health, wellbeing, recovery, physical profiling, strength and conditioning, training and match load monitoring, nutrition, psychology, and return to play strategies.Under the guidance of the Director of Performance and Innovation, and Director of Medical Services, collaborate with the Performance and Medical staff in the review, development and co-ordination of Applied Performance and Medical research projects, contributing to an evolving world leading High Performance support program.Mentor PhD students, undergraduate student volunteers, and interns. Attend and assist with workshops, in-service meetings, professional development courses/workshops and other development opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned.You will possess:Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related-field.Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field.BASES, BPS or AASP Applied Accreditation, or equivalent Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of sports psychology/performance.Knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.Experience in providing counseling services preferred.Applied soccer experience preferred (exception may be granted for experience in other professional sports).Experience of working with female athletes is essential.Passion for the success of Women’s Professional Sports, innovation, research and an appetite for an exciting new sports landscapeEnthusiastic and energetic team player, with experience of working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a high degree of emotional intelligence. A strong work ethic and friendly demeanor.Possess exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize/multi-task.Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Ability to work non-traditional hours, including scheduled games that can/will be weekends, evenings and perhaps Holidays. Compensation:·       Washington Spirit offers a competitive compensation package, medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance and 401k retirement plan. All applicants must pass a pre-employment background check. Equal Opportunity StatementWashington Spirit is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, marital status, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
