Position Summary The Performance Director leads and directs the club’s player performance initiatives and individual player medical needs.  This role will lead the supporting personnel and initiatives dedicated to enhancing elite athletic performance and improving the development of the Washington Spirit players.  While subject to change at the discretion of Club Management, the outline of the position as of today is as follows: Supervisor Responsibilities This position provides supervision to Interns as required by the business.  Hires, trains, and mentor’s staff. Organizes schedules of staff. Conducts performance evaluations and provides feedback that is timely and constructive.Handles discipline and termination as needed in accordance with company policy. Duties/ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute all sports science training and fitness sessions, game preparations, and other assignments for all Spirit operationsManage all data platforms to execute and drive high performance standardsManage all required elements of league standards as they relate to the professional playersSupport all, and participate in some, media appearances and community events designed to engage with the community and fansSupport development of Professional Player Standards Manual related to all aspects of their participation in the clubProvide support to Head Coach in designing and implementation of a comprehensive professional training program for all 1st Team players, while helping to deliver a high level of coaching and player development at all timesProvide support to Head Coach in planning and implementation of subgroup functional trainingProvide match day assistance to Head CoachCoordinate and liaise daily operations with 1st Team equipment manager and respective support staffSupport marketing and promotional club events as planned or scheduledSupport the Alliance Partner Club Program as planned or scheduled for club eventsActively participates in regular meetings with coaches and other technical staff. Executes planning sessions. E.g., warm up, condition, individualized return protocols, gym set-up, gym tear-down. Completes preparations for all team sessions, to include coordinating various tasks with team members. Provides overall support to manage individual player needs, to include developing and implementing individualized strength and conditioning programs and intervention strategies for players. Manages GPS and clock at sessions, ensuring live tracking data is recorded and available. Distributes and collects technology and wearables as needed for each session. Determines recommended live adjustments for players during sessions. Completes a review of the daily wellness scores, creating and presenting a report to the technical staff. Collaborates with technical staff on recommendations for subsequent sessions. Creates post training session plans and reviews with players. Creates and presents reports to medical staff. Reviews and provides feedback and suggestions on player travel itineraries, meal plans and overall nutrition. Leads player warm-ups and manages substitutes. Conducts post-match conditioning sessions with players.  Provides support to the Youth ADP programs, as requested. E.g., create session plans, facilitate session plans, lead field warm-ups, etc. Provides media support, as requested. E.g., presentations, interviews, social mediaCompletes an overall end-of-year report and individual player end-of-year reports.
