Duration: July 2024 – June 2025

Role Purpose:

We are looking for up to 4 Masters students to join our Men’s and Women’s First team and Academy Teams for the 2024/25 season. The successful applicants will be responsible for age and phase specific analysis delivery with the support of the performance analysts and the inter-disciplinary team.

What is the role?

Working within the Performance Analysis Department, you will be responsible for filming training and matches, producing educational content aligned with the game model and position specific profiles, and supporting the coaching team to deliver video analysis of training and matches.


You will be using multi-angle IP capture and live code training and matches using Hudl Sportscode and Hudl Replay. You will also use Hudl Sportscode to database goals and best practice from Southampton FC training and matches, aligning to the player profiles and game models. Furthermore, you will be expected to present video content and data visualisation using Mac software such as Final Cut Pro and Keynote.


You will also be required to assist full-time performance analysts with day-to-day ad-hoc tasks and any other duties. This includes, but is not limited to, fulfilling coach requests, and compiling dossiers.

This placement MUST form part of the overall degree programme for you to be considered. Do not apply if your placement is optional for your degree.

Essential Experience

A high level of technical and tactical football knowledge.
A good understanding of the elite sporting environment.
Previous analysis experience within a professional football setting.
Experience using analysis software, preferably Hudl Sportscode.
Proficient using Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Adaptable to different situations in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive nature to tasks in busy and quiet periods of the season.
Innovative ideas with work and willing to provide opinions to different work processes.
Meticulous attention to detail with pieces of work.
Self-awareness within a team environment and good at building relationships with fellow staff and athletes.

Essential Qualifications (including certifications):

Undertaking a master’s level degree in Performance Analysis that permits a placement year during the 2024/25 season.
