Performance Analyst MRes Funded Studentship
Outline of the Role
Harrogate Town AFC are offering a season-long studentship placement in partnership with Liverpool Hope University for the 2022/23 season.
The position requires a maximum of 24 hours per week commitment working within the club’s Performance Analysis Department, beginning in July 2022. The successful candidate will receive a bursary to cover full tuition fees for the course.
The role is to be combined with studying for an MRes in Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool Hope University. The course is formulated to foster independent, problem-solving individuals who are critical, analytical and resilient to the challenges of the research and applied environment. The course involves two main areas of study: Advanced Practical Techniques and Data Handling and the Independent Research Project. The course runs from October 2022 – September 2023 with taught classes on Monday’s during the academic term time (October 2022 – May 2023). This would involve travel to Liverpool to attend classes one day per week during term time. Learning Opportunities and Duties
This role will provide the suitable candidate with experience working within a professional football club environment, including, but not limited to the following;
·      Experience using Wyscout, Hudl SportsCode, Hudl Studio, PMA, Hudl Platform and other industry essential tools.
·      Opportunity to code live during games and training. Using club coding templates and being given training to create your own.
·      Post-Match coding on a team and individual basis to provide video feedback in line with the club’s coaching programme.
·      Filming training live, using the clubs SportsMast or drone, to capture training from an elevated angle.
·      Develop an ability to deliver high quality work under pressure and to deadlines
·      Opportunities to provide opposition analysis and assist with recruitment where necessary.
·      Freedom to implement your own analysis provision based on the content taught during university lectures that can supplement your university portfolio.
·      Create and maintain essential databases for both videos and statistics.
·      Gain an understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
·      Harrogate Town FC club kit when representing the club.
·      Opportunity to use elite performance data for University projects in line with the clubs confidentiality agreement.
·      Opportunities to participate in accredited and non-accredited CPD and Qualifications that are industry specific.
·      Opportunity to contribute to and observe first team analysis sessions.
·      Any reasonable duties requested by Academy Manager or Head of Performance Analysis.
Essential Requirements
·      A 2:1 or above undergraduate degree in a Sports Science related course (attained or predicted based on projected grades if currently in final undergraduate year). Those who hold a sport-related degree classification of 2:2 or a non-sport-related degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be required to submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate relevant experience/knowledge.
·      The candidate would be expected to live within suitable commuting distance from Harrogate Town AFC and ideally have their own vehicle for transport.
·      Available to work unsociable hours including weekends and Bank Holidays.
·      Proficient IT Skills (Mac & Windows)
Desirable Skills
·      Previous experience of working in a professional/semi-professional football club (e.g. undergraduate placement module)
·      Previous experience of using sports performance analysis software
·      Evidence of knowledge of football
·      Excellent attitude to work and learning
·      Excellent Organisational skills
·      Access to own MacBook
