Academy Football Analyst (PDP)

The Purpose

To provide Football Analysis support to the Manchester United’s professional development phase. Integral to this purpose will be the collation and feedback of technical and tactical information; as well as collaboration with other support services and departments as directed. This will involve the utilisation of leading hardware and software products to provide a comprehensive service to the coaching staff, players and football analysis department and any other party as agreed by HOSS.

Where a specific age group or phase has been determined, further clarity will be highlighted in PDRs.

The Role

The key responsibilities of the post are:

To work alongside coaches, analysis staff and other colleagues to deliver a comprehensive football analysis service relating to the technical, tactical and other developmental aspects that benefits the player and their individual journey.
The efficient and accurate collation of footage and data as requested, using a range of leading-edge technologies.
To keep an up-to-date database of all available footage from training sessions and games, for use by coaches and management toward individual development plans. All such databases should be stored on club server and where requested form part of the player appraisal process.
The correct analysis of video and data to provide insights toward individual player development and team performance where it is deemed appropriate.
The preparation of department specific feedback to help inform the decision-making process of the academy management team.
Upon request, the delivery of analysis feedback using a range of oral, written, visual, and video based communications. Innovative ideas and a demonstration of initiative to add value.
To support the talent identification, talent confirmation and talent development processes agreed by the academy and add value in appropriate ways, where requested by your line manager.
The Person:

The Successful Candidate Will Be Able To Demonstrate

An upper second class B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Sports Science (or equivalent).
A Masters level qualification in Performance Analysis is desired.
Evidence of a commitment and desire to employ rigorous scientific principles in the collation, analysis and feedback of video and performance data.
Relevant vocational qualifications and experience that provide an understanding of the technical and tactical demands of professional football.
Previous experience of having provided performance analysis support to a professional football club.
Excellent organizational skills and an ability to work with total discretion.
Experience in using performance analysis systems and software.
Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft office or similar packages.
Ability to work on own initiative, unsupervised and as an effective team member.
The ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner and practical approach to problem solving.
A willingness to work flexible hours in accordance with the demands of the role
A commitment to driving forwards continuous improvement in their working environment.
Sound personal qualities such as communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, self-motivation, enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure.
The successful candidate should exhibit pride in performance and possess high standards in the provision of service to Manchester United’s internal and external customers.
Full driving license.

Hours of Work

There are no set working hours and the employee will be required to work such times and such periods as are necessary for the proper fulfilment of their duties according to the operational requirements of the department or demands of the business. In this role candidates will be required to evenings and weekends.
