Role description

Job purpose:

To identify and report on senior players within the United Kingdom with the potential to play for Blackburn Rovers first team.

Duties and responsibilities:

To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
To view a minimum of three games per week either live or via video;
Assess and report on players utilising specific reporting mechanisms according to the needs of Blackburn Rovers Football Club;
Submit completed reports within the required timeline as determined by the Head of U.K. Scouting;
To hold a thorough understanding of all clubs and players within your region from U18s through to the senior group;
Submit a shortlist of players’ that is position specific on a monthly basis;
Ensure all recruitment department processes are fully adhered to in accordance with the requirements of the club;
Report to the Head of U.K. Scouting who will liaise on the weekly scheduling of games and target areas relative to the requirement and needs of the club;
Provide documented data evidence to support the concluding observations of a player;
To present on your player recommendations in meetings when required;
To actively contribute and attend all meetings organised by the Recruitment Department;
Effective use of your own network to ensure all informal forms of intelligence gathering is collated purposefully as part of the due diligence surrounding player background checks;
Liaise with the Head of UK Scouting to identify, review, report on and monitor targets teams and players to support the Club’s recruitment strategy;
Ensure the objectives of the Recruitment strategy are achieved in alignment with the department’s key performance indicators;
To undertake relevant CPD courses as required; and
To carry out any such other duties as the Head of U.K. Scouting or any other senior manager may reasonably properly assign or delegate in connection with the business of the Club from time to time.

An excellent reading of the football match and the ability to interpret and report on live/recorded match events;
Excellent attention to detail;

Ability to deal with unexpected situations and to multi-task;
Set and maintain standards of work performance and deliver quality, consistently and efficiently;
Can remain calm and composed under pressure;
High level of I.T. literacy;
Excellent communication and personal skills;
The ability to identify potential players to play in Blackburn Rovers First Team;
Proven track record of being able to research and produce detailed reports;
To display a high level of confidentiality in relation to the Club and its personnel;
To ensure familiarity and compliance with and commitment to policies and procedures and other safeguarding documentation as appropriate; and
The ability to raise awareness of safeguarding practices and create a culture of trust and inclusion.

Knowledge/Experience required:

Hold excellent knowledge of what attributes per position are required to play for Blackburn Rovers Football Club;
Proven track record of working within a First Team elite performance setting;
Experience working with all Microsoft packages;
Knowledge and understanding of scouting;
Excellent knowledge of the UK football markets and relevant governance;
Experience using scouting applications such as PMA, Scout 7 and other relevant applications;
Knowledge and understanding of recruitment practices at First Team level; and
Experience of researching and writing reports.

Qualifications required:

Recognised FA Talent Identification Qualification (desirable);
FA Safeguarding Certificate.
