About the job
Role Summary
The purpose of your role is a vital one in the academy. You will be required to deal with various injuries and illnesses that occur during training and match days. You will need to monitor these injuries and communicate with players, parents, coaches and academy manager, regarding the injury and the rehabilitation process following this. Our aim is to reduce the number of injuries we see during team training and match days. Along with senior staff you will be required to be a first port of call for emergency first aid.



Key Responsibilities

Assessment and management of injuries and illnesses to all Academy players.
To coordinate with Players, Parents, Academy Manager, and age group coach regarding players need during and throughout the injury period including rehabilitation

To provide treatment and rehabilitation to all injured athletes

To keep up to date medical records via the Kitman Lab system
Assist in the provision of warmups and cool downs pre/post training and match days
Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) inclusive of periodical trauma and CPD evenings
As appropriate, assist in the collection of the medical and sports science data collection for U9-U16 players.

Provision of medical cover for training and match day for U9-U16 (Home and Away fixtures).
Research football injuries and stay abreast with the latest developments in research and treatment. Continued professional development and reading around the area is essential.


Essential
-Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or other equivalent.
Accreditation or membership with relevant governing body (CSP, HCPC, SST, BASRAT)
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to work collaboratively with players, their parents, and staff members to ensure the best medical care is provided to academy players
-Keen interest and demonstration of knowledge of recent advances in sports medicine/MSK injury treatment and management
-Flexibility with work hours and site locations as necessary for the role.
-Availability for a minimum of 2 Sundays per month.
-Flexibility around busy periods for tournament cover, for example school easter holidays.


Desirable

-Pitch side qualification FA L4 ITMMIF or L5 ATMMIF
-Experience of pitch side medical cover in an elite sports setting.
-Experience of MSK/sports injury assessment, treatment & rehabilitation.
-A full, clean UK driver’s license with access a vehicle.
-Experience of using Kitman Lab
-FA Safeguarding children
-Understanding of the EPPP requirements.
