We have a great opportunity within Men's Technical to join us as a National Head Coach for a designated England development team with responsibility for creating and developing inspirational learning experiences, talent identification and delivering a competitive advantage to England players and teams. Further to this support is required on a number of FA Education activities and initiatives.
NB. Please note that this role will have a specific focus within the Professional Development Phase of the pathway. It may also include, phase lead responsibilities as and where appropriate.
About the Team
Our FA Technical teams support all aspects of Men's and Women's elite performance – including para football, the elite format of disability football that runs parallel to the mainstream game – so we can help players develop and England teams to win tournaments.
Our teams manage everything from identifying talent to the development and coaching of multi-disciplinary teams throughout the age groups, up to our Senior England teams. To deliver on our goal we have invested heavily in developing a team of exceptional people capable of creating winning England teams at our world-class training facilities at our National Football Centre, St. George's Park.
What You'll Do?
National Teams• Under the guidance of the National Coach (Phase Lead), lead, deliver and review seasonal programme for your designated team, in all aspects of the ‘Plan, Do, Review' process.• Under the guidance of the National Coach (Phase Lead), work closely with other National Coaches and Player Insights staff to lead the ‘selection process' for the team you lead.• Lead staff to help create and develop outstanding, inspiring performance, learning and development environment for players and staff both in and out of ‘events' to maximise the probability of success in your designated team(s).• Lead the creation and delivery of the technical and tactical programmes within the designated phase and liaising closely with the MDT support staff.• Lead the review and feedback mechanism to the players and in conjunction with the clubs, where possible with face-to-face contact.• Support in the ongoing player grading and handover activities across the age groups.• Where possible assist in the delivery of events with other age groups.
Talent ID Club Engagement• Work closely with the ‘Talent ID' department to actively identify, track and monitor players to be consider for selection to England teams, across the phase you work within.• Establish and develop close relationships through direct and face-to-face contact with professional football clubs and relationships in our Insight department.
Coach Education• Deliver coach education duties under the guidance of the National Coach (Phase Lead) and National Coach Developers for appropriate activities.• Liaise and collaborate with other National team staff and FA Education department to ensure good practice is shared in both education and national team settings to optimise the quality of delivery in both areas.
Other• Ensure outstanding recorded preparation, delivery and review of all work undertaken via the appropriate FA systems.• Develop collaborative links inside and outside of football to ensure our work remains contemporary and relevant to the demands of the future game.• Establish and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the game.• Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.• Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.
What You'll Need?
Essential for the role:
UEFA ‘A' Licence, FA Advanced Youth Award
Member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club
Experience of coaching elite players, and managing a multidisciplinary staff in an Academy, Senior Professional or International football environment.
Understanding of the International and Domestic professional club landscapes and strategies.
Experience of working with PDP players who have graduated from the YDP and progressed to Senior International status.
Deep knowledge of technical and tactical components of successful football strategies, tactics and techniques appropriate to the team and player's stage of development.
Ability to demonstrate an inspirational on and off field delivery using a variety of methods and approaches in clubs, internal meetings and coach education environments.
Growth mindset and strong evidence of continued professional development
A specialist skill set in one or more of the following areas;
- Proven relationships and credibility within the professional club environment.- Deep knowledge and understanding of recruitment principles in the PDP age groups.- Proven track record in the delivery of coach education courses.- Deep knowledge of psycho social development in young people from 16 to 21 year
Beneficial to have:
Degree in sports related subject
UEFA Pro Licence
Tutor / Mentoring experience
Teaching certificate or experience
Recent experience of coaching elite players
Understanding or experience of using sports code analysis software
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
