Academy VacancyPosition Academy Match Day Physiotherapist/ Sports TherapistReporting to Lead Academy PhysiotherapistPosition: Part-time, Saturdays and/ or SundaysPlease note that 1 match = 3 hoursSalary: £20 p/h (Physiotherapists)£12 p/h (Sports Therapists)Location Edinburgh: Heart of Midlothian FC Training Ground(Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre) and away venues acrossScotland
Heart of Midlothian FC are looking for Physiotherapists/ Sports Therapists who are highlymotivated and passionate about working with and developing young athletes. The Club areseeking those who can develop good working relationships with a variety of groups includingfellow practitioners, football coaches, youth players and their parents.Our Academy Match Day Physiotherapists/Sports Therapists provide pitch-side cover acrossthe Academy (U11–U18 squads), ensuring appropriate assessment and treatment of injuriesis provided to players on a match day when required.
Key Responsibilities:• Provide physiotherapy cover during academy match days including emergency on-pitchcare/treatment when required• Liaise with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist and the Academy Manager, asappropriate, to assess players’ health status and contribute to informed professionaldecision-making on players’ fitness and readiness to train and play• Work collaboratively with other members of the performance department includingdoctors, sport scientists, nutritionists, and other specialists, as required• Complete the required handover forms and e-mail these to the Lead AcademyPhysiotherapist by Monday evening each week following matches• Travel to away matches will be required (mileage @45p per mile can be claimed)• The opportunity may arise to pick up additional hours, if desired, by providingphysiotherapy cover of players during evening clinics at the training ground includingdiagnosis, acute care/treatment and short- to long-term rehabilitation from injury. Thisincludes the design and delivery of both pitch- and gym-based exercise programmes.
Essential Qualifications:• Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent• HCPC registered physiotherapist or member of The Society of Sports Therapists• Valid pitch-side care qualification e.g., NSFA, sportPROMOTE, SCRUMCAPS etc.• This role requires regular contact with players under the age of 18 therefore it is requiredby law to have a PVG check and the associated paperwork• Postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy (Desirable).
