ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Richmond Kickers Pro Soccer Club, an independent USL League One team located in Richmond, VA, is accepting applications for an internship in Marketing and Community Engagement. This is a temporary paid position from February 26, 2024 to October 26, 2024.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Marketing and Branding. We are looking for an outgoing, energetic candidate who will connect with a variety of local and regional community organizations, schools, nonprofits, and service groups. The candidate will be the first line of representation for the Club at community events, match day activation support, watch parties, and other grassroots events. They will also be responsible for developing event schedules, coordinating player appearances, and the supervision of “Street Team Members” ensuring the street team has a grassroots presence throughout Richmond. They will utilize word-of-mouth marketing to help naturally generate brand awareness, cultivate fan engagement, and represent Richmond Kickers Pro Soccer and W League Richmond in community activations.

Primary Duties
Work with the Director to execute a strategic marketing plan for sales growth
Collaborate with internal departments such as Ticket Sales, Corporate Partners, and Stadium Operations to effectively manage marketing assets as needed
Assist in identifying grassroots marketing opportunities through market research of local events and organizations.
Facilitate outside requests for charitable, promotional, and community appearances and donations.
Coordinate and implement the distribution of Kickers’ and W League Richmond marketing materials (pocket schedules, special event nights, and special offers) in targeted communities.
Assist with the coordination of the street team, mascot, grassroots marketing efforts, gameday entertainment, theme nights, and community events.
Represent the Richmond Kickers and W League Richmond as a Brand Ambassador at events throughout the greater Richmond community including, but not limited to, mascot and player appearances, festivals, tournaments, partner appearances, and Kickers and W League Richmond home games
Engage current and potential new fans, creating rapport and building excitement about Kickers and pro soccer and W League Richmond games
Monitor and analyze marketing promotion results to determine the effectiveness of each promotion campaign
Assist with game day operations and special events
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor degree preferred, but not required
Strong understanding of sports and entertainment with a foundation in marketing, sports marketing, and/or communications
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly desired
Have a knack for striking up conversations with strangers and a passion for talking about soccer and connecting in the community
Must have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Can work in the elements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Access to reliable transportation required
Must have access to a computer and reliable internet connection for any out-of-office work
Ability to work independently and efficiently on a variety of time-sensitive projects
Ability to work flexible hours, including but not limited to, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to work and attend all Richmond Kickers and W League Richmond home games
