ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are a growing sport-for-development charity based in Bolton that offers employees the opportunity to deliver life-changing work alongside colleagues who share a mutual passion for improving people’s lives. We now have an exciting new role within the charity for a passionate individual to join us as our Marketing and Communications Manager.
The overall aim of the role is to successfully plan, develop and implement the charity’s marketing and communications strategy, supporting the execution of BWitC’s strategic goals.
The pay range we are offering is £28,000 - £34,999, on an initial 2-year fixed term contract, extended subject to future funding.
Location: Bolton Wanderers in the Community (BWitC) is based at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, the home of BWFC. Situated in the heart of the North West we are commutable from Manchester, Preston and Liverpool with access to strong public transport and motorway links.

Main duties and responsibilities: The overall aim of the role is to successfully plan, develop and implement the charity’s marketing and communications strategy, supporting the execution of BWitC’s strategic goals. Other responsibilities include:• Maintain and update BWitC’s official website, including writing and sharing regular news stories.• Using sound knowledge of different social media channels, manage daily output and content generation across multiple accounts. • To develop and implement a new CRM system to deliver email marketing to key stakeholders. • Deliver all offline marketing for the charity eg flyers, posters, reports. • Write content and meet all deadlines for the community pages within BWFC match day programme. • Work closely with the Media and Communications Officer, managing workload, delegating work and ensuring effective performance. • Establish a close working relationship with key colleagues including programme leads and BWitC’s fundraising team and the Charity’s trading subsidiary, Wanderers Sport in the Community to successfully market community projects, communicate impact and maximise commercial opportunities with key stakeholders.• Establish a close working relationship with Bolton Wanderers’ media, marketing and communications team to maximise opportunities to raise awareness and promote the work of BWitC. • Manage relationships with external BWitC’s marketing partners. • Work and develop positive relationships with local press and media to promote and share the work of BWitC, including producing press releases to be shared with local and regional media.• Work closely with the Head of Community in producing BWitC’s annual Impact Report.• Conduct market research to identify trends and customer preferences.• Analyse marketing data and metrics to measure the success of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.• To establish an internal communications plan.• Produce a quarterly marketing report for presentation to trustees. • Attend any relevant BWitC events and BWFC match day activity that has a community element or theme.• To continuously improve how BWitC communicates with all stakeholders. • Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures.• To be an ambassador of BWitC by supporting us in creating a connected Bolton without disadvantage offering excellent customer service at all times and upholding the professional image of BWFC and BWitC.• To perform other duties as required, which are considered relevant to the objectives of BWitC. 
ESSENTIAL CRITERIAQualifications:• A degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications or other appropriate area.• A Levels, NVQs, GCSEs, BTECs or equivalent experience within the industry.
Ability and Skills:• Excellent social media, digital marketing skills, including outstanding copywriting and proofreading abilities.• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.• Excellent organisation, planning and record keeping skills.• IT skills and a knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes.• The ability to work individually or as part of a team.
Experience• An experienced marketing or communications professional in particular within non-profit sectors, including knowledge and understanding of marketing and communication techniques, both on and offline.• Experience of working with local and regional press agencies.
Special Attributes• A knowledge of different social media platforms and how to best utilise these.• A passion for innovation, forward-thinking and the drive to continually improve the way things are done.• A career focused individual, who is ambitious with commercial awareness.• A sound understanding of managing internal and external brand identities, partnerships marketing and marketing/advertising codes of practice and new GDPR data requirements.• You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of people management.• An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.• Possess a full and clean driving license with access to a suitable vehicle with business insurance cover.• A flexible attitude to working and willing to work evenings and weekends when required.• Commitment to development and willingness to undertake training where necessary.• Commitment to Bolton Wanderers in the Community’s vision, mission, values and behaviours.• An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion policies and practice.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA• Have experience of working within the charity sector.• Have experience of working within the football club community organisations/charities sector.
