MANAGER, PLAYER CARE

SUMMARY:

The player care manager will assist all players and their families with their transition into the San Diego market and assimilation into the football club. This individual will also provide daily support to the players and staff by proactively solving for all off-field distractions, ensuring the team’s concentration remains focused towards on-field performance.



RESPONSIBILITES:



Reporting to Director, Football Operations, the primary duties and responsibilities will be:


Oversee all relocation details from start to finish for all first team players. Including, but not limited to arranging arrival flights, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, housing searches, moving and shipping needs, opening bank accounts, obtaining cell phones, purchasing/leasing vehicles, obtaining driving permits, SSN’s, school registrations, language lessons, etc.
Create and execute detailed onboarding itineraries for all new players and trialists coming into the team.
Assist the Director, Football Operations with player visa and immigration petitions.
Work with the league office to coordinate player HR paperwork including the set-up of payroll, benefits and medical insurance.
Ensure the club maintains secured, detailed and up-to-date player records including passport and visa expiry dates.
Manage the player and family experience on game days (tickets, parking, family suite, childcare, transportation, etc).
Assist community relations with player appearance requests as needed.
Ensure all players are offboarded with equal attention and maintain an SDFC alumni database.
Provide administrative and operations support to the football operations department (i.e. Team Administrator) as required


QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates can meet the requirements with a combination of experience in the following areas:



Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with professional athletes and/or in a similar role within MLS.
Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Sports Management
Fluent in Spanish, both written and orally
Superior organizational and administrative skills
Innate problem solver who can see around corners and solve for issues before they happen
Must have a high level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to deal with professional athletes (and their families) coming from across the globe
Customer service oriented with incredible attention to detail
Strong communicator
