The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.
The FA oversees England international teams acrossmen's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FAWomen's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park, all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.
To deliver against our goal we have reallocated resources and invested heavily in developing a team of exceptional people capable of creating winning England teams at our world-class training facilities at our National Football Centre, St. George's Park.

Role Description

Lead the successful planning and delivery of logistics, freight, and operational plans for England Senior teams' major tournaments during 2022 and 2023.

Please note this is a fixed-term contract until 31st August 2023.



Key Accountabilities


Plan, coordinate, manage and deliver all logistics, freight, and operational plans for England Senior teams' major tournaments.
Lead on the movement, set up, de-rig, and reverse logistics of major tournament kit, equipment, and assets.
Develop a robust budget to support movement of kit and equipment for England Senior teams' major tournaments, ensuring timelines are met, activity remains within budget, and timely reconciliation of spend.
Work effectively with key internal stakeholders, as directed, to deliver all aspects of the logistics and operational plans, creating the optimum environment for collaboration and delivery. Ensure effective use of resources, and drive logistical efficiencies across wider FA functional departments.
Liaise with and maintain effective communication with external stakeholders; to include UEFA, FIFA, Local Organising Committees, tournament logistics partners, 3rdparty suppliers, venues, customs & border agencies, and travel partners.
Lead the advance travel party for all ‘tournament time' England team movements.
Responsible for the submission of major tournament Customs and Freight documentation, ensuring all deadlines and requests for information are met.
Provide expert advice on the changing nature of the global customs and freight industry. Highlight impacts and areas of risk to the Head of National Team Operations and Senior team MDT representatives, ensuring that all plans and operations are always legally and industry compliant. Align with the FA's sustainability initiatives and processes.
Be the main point of contact for the logistics, freight, and operational plans.
Support other internal England team logistics projects, as directed, utilising expertise and specific industry knowledge to enhance and drive delivery.
Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.

What we are looking for


Essential

Industry expert in logistical operations and processes for elite sporting tournaments
Previous attendance and delivery at one or more of the following: European Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Olympic Games
Proven track record of managing complex stakeholders and working in a pressurised environment
Confidence and credibility to operate at a senior level including strong influencing, negotiation, and facilitation skills
Able to travel regularly (UK / Overseas) as well as being based onsite locally for the duration of each tournament
Flexible approach to working hours
Exceptional organisational, planning and communication skills
Competent in the use of IT systems for creation, storage, and dissemination of information


Desirable

Experience of working in a football environment
Experience of working with high profile sportspeople and executives
Expert problem solving and decision-making skills
Experience in event management

Please be aware that unless you are contractually homebased, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.
We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
