Working within the Academy Recruitment Department, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the local scouting and recruiting of talent available to Southampton Football Club throughout the Academy age groups. This will include supporting the building and maintenance of the local network, designing and implementing the trialist process for under 9s-16s, and line managing the Pre-Academy Co-ordinator, Talent Centre Manager and Local Scouting Team.
What is the Role?
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to manage and co-ordinate a team of hard-working and dedicated Talent ID staff to consistently dominate the local regions for the best available talent. You will also be expected to work closely with the relevant inter-disciplinary staff to ensure a smooth process of trialists both incoming and outgoing.
You will be expected to engage with local leagues and associations to build connections with Southampton FC as well as engaging with local private organisations across the spectrum of the academy age groups. Furthermore, you will attend all meetings, as directed by the Head of Academy Recruitment, and be a visible member of the Scouting Team, representing the club with the utmost professionalism.
You will line manage the Pre-Academy Co-ordinator and Talent Centre Manager, making sure that Southampton FC provides a leading experience, resulting in us being the first choice for players and parents. Additionally, you will also lead the U9-16 trialist process and liaise with Talent ID staff to ensure the appropriate outcome and deliver an outstanding experience for players and families by ensuring players are appropriately transitioned throughout the programme.
You will be responsible for the welfare of the children in your care. This encompasses ensuring that child protection policies are implemented and any relationships between children and adults are appropriate. The company will expect you to undertake training to make sure you understand best practice in relation to children and adults, especially those at risk.
You will work within deadlines agreed with the club, contribute to the CPD of the department and carry out ad-hoc duties as requested by the Head of Academy Recruitment.
