ROLE DESCRIPTION

Stenhousemuir Football Club are looking to recruit an experienced, committed, knowledgeable and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Lead Sports Scientist within the Football Club.


Key Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the strategic management and leadership of all aspects of the Sports Science plan, providing performance support to players and coaches.



They will have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and have a proven track record in working successfully within a high performance sports environment with a clear understanding of athletic development.


Reporting in the first instance to the 1st team Manager and the Head of Football Operations, they will be responsible, as part of the senior management team in that area, for leading an integrated programme of performance support for all levels of the club, consistent with the playing philosophy of the 1st team Manager.


The post-holder will have specific responsibility for managing and overseeing the design, planning and delivery of a cohesive and systematic provision of sports science/performance support across all aspects of the football operation at the club.


Working in conjunction with colleagues across the Performance Department you will work to ensure that players at all levels of the performance continuum are appropriately supported to optimise their performance in training and competition.


· Qualifications and Person Specification


Qualifications (Desirable)
· Degree in Sports and Exercise Science or related discipline
· Football coaching qualification
· BASES accreditation


Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential)
· Experience of working in a professional football club multidisciplinary team at Academy, Development or 1st team level.
· Experience of athlete management with a detailed understanding of injury prevention and long-term player development.
· Proven record of achieving outcomes in terms of individual player improvements in fitness and conditioning.
· Highly skilled in communicating complex data in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences.
· Evidence of recent CPD and a comprehensive CPD portfolio.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable)
· Knowledge of Football Sports and Medicine Science best practice.
· Knowledge of performance analysis technique and programs.
· Experience of strategic planning with evidence of vision and imagination

Location

Training takes place at Ochilview, Stenhousemuir.


Hours of Work

This is a part time post. The postholder will be required to attend training on a Tuesday and Thursday evening and attend all match day events.


Organisational Relationships

Reports to: 1st Team Manager


Senior Relationships: Head of Football Operations
