1. The Department
Our Boys Academy Department has been awarded the prestigious category one status accolade demonstrating that we provide the highest level of quality coaching, education, training and facilities for our youth football provisions and staff.
In order to deliver our ambitious plans for nurturing, encouraging and developing talent we have an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapist to join the Academy Sport Science and Medicine team at Aston Villa FC.
2. The Role
We are currently seeking a qualified Physiotherapist who has experience in providing a physiotherapy provision to elite adolescent athletes.
This role requires an engaging energetic individual who has a passion for athletic development and the drive to support Pre and Post Adolescents athletes to understand the impact of Sports Science and Medicine on availability, motor skills, co-ordination, strength, power and ultimately performance.
The role will be responsible for leading, coordinating and delivering expert youth player assessment, rehabilitation, and athletic development specifically to our Foundation Phase (FP) and Youth Development Phase (YDP) academy players.
You will contribute towards the Academy Sport Science and Medical Department’s vision of optimising player availability and performance through an elite evidence-based medical provision.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who has a passion for physical development and clinical assessment with a desire to help young players exceed their potential. 3. The Person
To be considered for this role, you will need to hold the following qualifications:
· BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy (minimum 2:1)
· Membership to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
· Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
You must have demonstrable experience in providing a high-quality physiotherapy provision to elite young footballers in a full-time capacity within a professional sport. You will require an in-depth understanding of growth and maturation and its implications for a developing footballer.
You must be able to work in a team environment with previous demonstrable experience of working within Interdisciplinary and Multi-Disciplinary Teams including parents.
Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (Category 1 Academy) and previous experience in managing and overseeing a Youth Development Phase physiotherapy provision is desirable.
