Role description

Heart of Midlothian is a Scottish Premiership Football Club and an Edinburgh institution with a proud heritage dating back to 1874. The Club has an exciting opportunity to work directly with the First Team Head Coach, Technical Director, coaching staff, and players as Lead First Team Performance Analyst. The role involves ensuring detailed and relevant information relating to Performance Analysis is provided at both home and away matches, and training sessions, to contribute to the First Teams success and player development.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within elite football, use of industry standard products and software, demonstrating a high-level tactical understanding of the game specifically relating to European and SPFL. To be successful in the role you will be committed and hard-working, with a wealth of enthusiasm and knowledge alongside effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities: Responsible for the development and implementation of the Performance Analysis Framework, to deliver effective insights that contribute to First Team success throughout the season. Lead on the First Team analysis process with delivery of pre, live, post-match reports and annotated video clips to First Team Coach, Technical Director and coaching staff and players. Creation and presentation of video analysis meetings to deliver to the players. Develop and maintain outstanding relationships and communication pathways with players, coaches, and members of the multidisciplinary team. Film, analyse and provide subsequent feedback relating to training sessions. Management of a training and games video footage library. Continuously progress the analysis department, managing workload of the Assistant First Team Analyst and B Team Performance Analyst to help achieve both team results and player development. Undertake larger scale projects into tactical trends within the SPL and Europe. Complete any other tasks as requested by the First Team Head Coach, Technical Director and Coaching Staff. A key decision maker surrounding the future of the department, considering the needs of the club, analysis department and staying up to date with the latest developments in the analysis industry.
Essential Experience Qualifications: Minimum 3 years experience working full time within elite football. Experience of using industry standard products and softwares for coding and capture of matches/training and video telestration e.g. Chyron Hego Coach Paint and Hudl Sportscode. Previous use of industry standard online platforms such as Wyscout and Statsbomb IQ. Previous experience of having worked within the SPFL or a first team environment. Experience working with coding software such as R studio or Python. MSc in Sports Performance Analysis or related subject (Desirable). SFA and/or UEFA football coaching qualifications or equivalent (Desirable).
Essential Skills Abilities: Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the current state of European football (competition trends, managers, and players, etc) with specific application to the SPFL. Demonstrate a high level of tactical understanding and knowledge of the game. An understanding of current trends within data analytics in football. Proficient using Mac iOS and Windows products. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good organisational skills to effectively manage time and balance workloads. High levels of attention to detail and maintenance of standards. Proactive attitude and drive to always be improving whilst staying on top of improvements and developments within widening performance analysis sphere.
