First Team Lead Data Scientist
About The Role
Leicester City Football Club are recruiting for a First Team Lead Data Scientist to lead the Club in its use of advanced performance data. Reporting into the Director of Football, this role will manage the collection and architecture of multiple sources of raw data, build mathematical models, and provide insight and guidance to coaches, analysts and other relevant stakeholders.
Who We’re Looking For
Qualified to Masters or PhD level within a quantitative discipline (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering etc.) the successful candidate will have extensive experience in statistical modelling techniques with a focus on data sources and formats that are prevalent in analysis of high-level professional football / sport.
Desirable prior experience includes:
-        Working within a professional sports organisation
-        Knowledge of performance data products (e.g. StatsBomb, Opta, Second Spectrum)
-        Managing large data sets
-        Proficiency with R/Shiny or Python programming languages (or Tableau) and in database tools such as MySQL
The ideal candidate will excel in developing close working relationships with key stakeholders across the Club, have a proactive and structured approach to problem solving, and be comfortable working to tight deadlines.
