Role description

Full time, term time plus some additional hours in the school holidays

Shrewsbury School seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate to lead athletic development across the School. We are looking for applicants with expertise in Strength & Conditioning in addition to coaching our Podium/Performance Sports.

Essentially, the Lead Coach (Athletic Development) will have:

S&C specific qualifications – BSc/MSc in /Strength and Conditioning or a Sport Science-related degree and/or UKSCA Accreditation
Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to communicate appropriately, develop and motivate young athletes
Practical experience within the discipline of strength and conditioning
Experience leading long-term strength and conditioning support to youth athletes both male and female
First Aid / AED trained and have a continued commitment to professional development.
The ability to coach a sport/contribute to the sports programme and/or knowledge of sports performance analysis would be advantageous

This is a full-time position, and you will need to be available for duties during the normal school day. The full-time hours are to be worked for the operational needs of the school and in accordance with those given by the Director of Sport. Additional hours may be required during the School holidays to help with preseason training and to accompany sports tours as required by the Director of Sport. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to boarding school life.
