Role description

Derby County Football Club is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Academy Performance Analyst to join the team at our Category One Academy.
The successful candidate will aid in the management of the Performance Analysis programme for the Academy, namely the U23 team, providing a blend of innovative solutions alongside current best practice in order to enhance player development through the provision of analytical interventions that underpin improved performance.
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a 2:1 Sports Science or related degree and at least 3-years’ experience within an elite sport environment at either senior or youth level, specifically the U23 age group.
Key responsibilities:

To aid in the development and the management of the Academy Performance Analysis Department and become a key stakeholder in the Academies Senior Management Team.
Work alongside the Head of Analysis to ensure consistency and alignment between the academy and 1st team.
Film and analyse individual and team performances within the Academy, namely the U23 team to the required standard
Undertake training, pre-match, post-match and live analysis of Academy players in order to provide coaches and players with feedback
Work in conjunction with coaches and analysts to build presentations for game/individual performance reviews (statistical and video)
Build performance profiles using databasing and statistical reporting techniques
Provide coaches and players with trend analysis information to advance the identification and interpretation of player performance profiles
Manage projects such as analysing the strengths and weaknesses of a player
Carry out opposition analysis, filming, coding and video editing – providing insights to relevant coaching staff and creating detailed reports, utilising telestration tools, to facilitate game plan creation
Responsible for maintaining an up to date database (Player Library) of matches and events as well as producing motivational and educational videos
Create age and learning style appropriate education content – relating to team, unit and individuals
Sharing of relevant video, data and other resources with all key stakeholders (staff, players and parents) where applicable using a variety of different platforms
Undertake available training courses and research to enhance personal knowledge, skills and experience
To attend briefings, courses and seminars, as able or as required by the Club, The Premier League, and The Football League and commit to undertake Continued Professional Development
Keep abreast of current research and the latest developments in Sports Analysis practice and suggest ideas to assist with continuous improvement accordingly.

Key Skills and experience:

Post-Graduate degrees in sports science related subject or equivalent would be desirable
FA Coaching Qualifications are desirable
Experience in the use of industry standard analysis products including SportsCode
Experience in the use of industry standard analysis products including OPTA and Hudl
Experience in the use of ‘telestration’ – namely Piero is desirable
High level of performance analysis related skills such as filming and video capture, computer competency (Windows office essential), and knowing how best to apply this to the role and the department’s needs
High level of video editing (iMovie, Final Cut Pro or equivalent)
Confident, Resilient and Self Motivated
Excellent Communications skills both verbal and written
Excellent Presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, target driven environment
Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
Work using own initiative and as part of a team
Dedicated to the roles and the extra hours required
Collaborative attitude and teamwork with attention to detail
